Assignment brief

Assignment title

Proposal for a Development Project containing the Procedures,

roles and responsibilities in the planning and design stage of
construction projects

Purpose of this assignment

To show how the principles of client briefing and site analysis support the development of detailed design; to
look legal and statutory processes which affect the design; to examine the integration of the principles of
mobility and sustainability at the detailed design stage

Scenario
Choose any one of the following concepts (One for each Team) for your Proposal:
1.
2.
3.
4.

FIFA 2022 - Any Conceptual Development(s) in QATAR in preparation of FIFA 2022

EXPO 2020 Any Conceptual Developments(s) in DUBAI in preparation of EXPO 2020
Waste to Energy A proposal for an Integrated Waste to Energy System for QATAR
Any other suggestions from the team of Students (subject to Assessor approval)

From your Proposal, identify the potentials evidences for the following tasks:
Task 1
Describe who will be required as part of the team, and the relevant work stages they will be involved in suggest a
suitable team model for best practice.

Task 2
Provide a brief description of the different types of client that there are. Discuss the type of client specifically is involved
in this project and the relevant needs.

Task 3
Provide an analysis of the considerations in building the brief which will have an impact on both the design
and the construction stage of the project.
Task 4
Given that communication is a central plank to all construction projects, and the need for clarity is most
critical at the design stage, which sets the agenda for the rest of the project, what are the potential barriers
to communication between the client and the design team, and indeed, within the design team itself? How
can these problems best be overcome?

Achievement Summary

In addition to the above PASS criteria, this assignment gives you the opportunity to submit evidence in order
to achieve the following MERIT and DISTINCTION grades
