the first game itself as the loan interest rate increases as the game progresses. It is also a good
practice to pay back the loan as soon as possible.
Vulnerability and coping strategies: The farmers are vulnerable to monsoons and pest
attack. Coping strategy for a drought condition would be to analyze the meteorological
forecast and plan for irrigation facilities. The marginal farmers can go for a shared irrigation
facility.
In the case of a pest attack, we can make use of pesticides. Even this does not enhance the
yield to the full productivity limit. In the case of a severe pest attack, the farmer is completely
helpless. Since the whole village is effected, the yield overall will also be less and hence the
option from buying from others is also not possible.
Improvement required in the game: As per the rules of the game, when a severe pest attack
is announced, even the pesticides will not enhance the yield. We had used pesticides in a
severe pest attack situation which was just a waste of money. Hence, a pop up message
should be given while pesticides are being applied to the farm mentioning that "Pesticides
don't have any effect on the yield during a severe pest attack condition".
