Question Tags

If we want to ask for information we usually use the standard


question form. However, sometimes we just want to keep a
conversation going, or confirm information. Using question tags well
also promotes a keen understanding of the use of various auxiliary
verbs.

Level:
Pre-intermediate to intermediate

Educational objectives:

To develop active and passive knowledge of the use of


question tags.

To practice Asking questions that require answers using


question tags.
To practice answering using question tags.

Behavioral objectives:
To learn how to gather and interpret information from appropriate
resources (certain websites & books).
To learn how to display their collected information on certain
programs.

Technological aims:
1. To let the students solve online question provided by the
teacher using question tags.
2. To let them find different websites that shows the uses of the
Question tags.
3. To use the computer programs well.
4. To use the Internet effectively.
5. To display all their gathered information on certain programs
(power point)

Educational Activities:
The teacher needs:

Computers with Internet access.


Technologies such as word processing programs and power
point presentation

A. The Teachers role:

To divide the class into groups and ask them to perform


certain tasks.
To give the suitable resources.

B. Student Role:

Students will surf, investigate, gather & converse in English


and discuss what they have found.
Students will work in groups to gather the required
information.
Students will write their outcomes using word and power
point.
Students will answer questionnaires.

Lessons steps:
1. Ask the students questions about their previous information
that they know about the Question Tags.
2. Give them a PowerPoint show about the Question Tags.
3. Divided the students into groups, and give them different
websites to open and solve the online exercises. At the end,
their answers must be sent to the teachers E-mail address, to
be checked.

Learning Strategies:
This lesson is going to take one period (45 minutes).
5 minutes introduction.
5 minutes to divide the learners into three groups and each one has
a task as follows:

10 minutes to choose and define the appropriate information from
the collected information.
10 minutes to present the information and discuss them.

Evaluation:
The evaluation is done by:
1-forums and questionnaires that point out the lesson outcome on
the student
2- students answers to the questions accompanied by each activity.
3-oral and written test (quizzes) as a final evaluation.
