2010,Yousefi et al. 1997, Lewis et al. 2002, GOP, 2011, GOP, 2012, Scheaffer, (1979), (Kinnear
and Taylor, (1987) (Scheaffer,1990).
I do not understand this quote: In the past two years, two conventional financial institutions
have converted to Islamic principles and another, Middle East Bank, is preparing to do so by June
2004.While the multinational Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) is expanding its
Islamic finance operations, others are contemplating joining the lucrative Islamic finance market
through the offering of Islamic (Kahf et al. 2002), We are in June 2015
The literature used is quite old, 2000 2008. What do newer studies from 2013-2015 say? Did the
knowledge about the Islamic banking system improve?
The sample of 60 is small. How come it is considered representative?
The year and month when this study was made is not presented. The study is relevant for that
specific date.
In my opinion, chapter 5 must be an Appendix to this article. There are too many data, some
repeating and do not have their place inside the article.
Chapter 6 must be integrated in Conclusions, which should be more clear and concise.
The conclusions should refer only to the research results and not to other things which have not
come out of the research. For example: It is concluded from the study Islamic banking in Pakistan
is growing at a rapid rate. There are three main factors which have been proven to contributing to
this growth. Among these factors religious are the most promising. Therefore people are adopting
Islamic banking mainly due to Islamic laws and nature. The other factors include economic and
other socio and psychological factors. These factors also have certain Contribution in the growth
of Islamic banking but less than religious factors.
Students are a quite limited sector of the banking market, including the Islamic one. Of greater
value would have been a study on an important segment of clients from the banking system (a
segment that could have been identified from the banks)
The study can be continued by analysing a client segment which is declared to be a target segment
by the Islamic banks in the next couple of years.
