STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Masters of Science in Information Systems


The constant increasing applications of computers in technological development demand
more efficient information management and business solutions. Coming from a background of
Information Technology, I have developed an interest in the arena of information management in
Business and Technology. Sorting the abundant information available today is a challenging task
and has put many of us in ambiguity. .Continuous learning prepares you to take advantage of
opportunities is one of the inspirational statements that I follow. Learning is a continuous
process and the day that we stop learning is the day that we stop taking advantages and start
decreasing our rewards and lower levels of satisfaction. My ardent desire to acquire knowledge
has motivated me to pursue my graduate studies for Master of Science in Information Systems at
your prestigious University. I have taken this decision after good deal of self-evaluation,
carefully considering my academic background.
I had completed Five Years Integrated Dual Degree B.Tech+M.Tech in Information
Technology from Andhra University, College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh,
India in year 2013 with Cumulative grades points 7.62 of 10. During my Dual Degree program at
Andhra University, College of Engineering which is one of the reputed government university in
Andhra Pradesh state in India has given me a firm and comprehensive footing in fields of
Information Technology. The course of study included subjects like C Programming, Operating
System Fundamentals, Data Communications, Data Structures, Computer Networks, Database
Management System, Computer Graphics and more including elective subjects like e-commerce,
Management Principles, Environmental Studies. I worked in group mini-project as a part of
Object Oriented software Engineering Lab with project titled Hospital Management System
and Web Technologies Lab with project titled Vizag Tourism. Including my final year project
titled Remote Location Services in Intermittently Connected MANETs which is aimed to
providing location services to mobile Ad-Hoc networks using geographic routing with the help
of routing protocols LAROD and LoDiS. Participated in C Programming, Cyber Forensics and
Information Security workshop conducted by International Association of Students in Economic
and Commercial Sciences(AIESEC). Further, I worked as tutor for my juniors on subjects like
Data Communications, Operating System Fundamentals, C Programming and Database
Management System.
Since it is a dual degree, we do not have thesis for our final semester to put forward this
integrated B.Tech+M.Tech degree as Masters. The M.Tech (thesis) plays an important role in
placements into core companies and research career as well. The utility of the M.Tech Degree via
Dual Degree program is limited. I felt the need to accomplish Masters with Thesis from an elite
educational institution and for this reason, the statement of purpose surfaces.
