Content
All organisms need energy, and many get it from eating other organism. Students
will be learning about the food chain. A food chain shows how living things get food,
and how nutrients and energy are passed from creature to creature. Food chains
begin with plant-life and end with animal-life.
List the objectives for this lesson. They should include what the students will learn from your
instruction
After this lesson, students will know what a food chain is. Students will also be after to determine
the order of a food chain. Students will also know how plants and animals get their energy.
How will you teach the content? Details help. Include the game(s), what do you do before the
games and how do you follow-up.
1: First we will review the parts of the food chain: Producers/consumers/decomposers
2: Then we will take about examples of a food chain. Students will give their own examples.
3: Students will log onto sheppardsoftware.com and go to the section on Food Chains.
4: Students will play The Food Chain Game.
5 When students finish playing the game, it will tell them how many they got wrong and give
them a link to learn more about food chains. Students will read through the page.
6: Students will replay game until 100% mastery is achieved.
7: After students finish, we will discuss what they learned about the different food chains.
Additional materials you will use and how will you use them.

Evaluation Strategies
After completing the game, students will be given a exit slip. This exit slip will ask students to
correctly order the plants and animals on a food chain. Students will be using the skills they learned
from the game to complete the exit slip. Students will also be asked to make a food chain of their
choice. Students will illustrate the food chain.
