It's death defying, it's daunting and it's downright dangerous. But England's John Evans balanced a 159.6 kg (352 lb) Mini on his head for 33 seconds at The
London Studios, UK on May 24, 1999.
Dangling cars from his head is all in a day's work for professional 'Head Balancer' Evans. He's balanced people, books and beers, but the car's by far the most
deadly trick - a strong wind and it could be the end of the road for John.
John's a gigantic guy. He's 2 meters tall and weighs in at 155.7 kg (343 lb). But it's his 60.9cm (24-inch) neck that's the only part of his body strong enough to
take such immense weights. So the slightest slip, trip or nudge could send him tumbling to a crushing death, as his arms wouldn't be able to cope with the load!
This big fella has broken 25 records in 11 categories and is going for more

Greatest Distance Walked with a Milk Bottle Balanced on the Head
WHO:
Ashrita Furman
WHAT:
130.3 km (80.96 miles)
WHERE:
New York, USA
WHEN:
April 22-23, 1998
The greatest distance walked by a person continuously balancing a milk bottle on the head is 130.3 km (80.96 miles) by Ashrita Furman
of New York, USA, around Victory Field track, Forest Park, Queens, on April 22-23, 1998. It took him 23 hours 35 minutes to complete
the walk.
Ashrita Furman was born on September 16, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York. As a teen, Ashrita says he was a major geek, who was bad at
sport and quit on the first day of his school athletics team trials. He claimed "cool" status when he came across the spiritual teachings of
Sri Chinmoy, and by 1974 he was such a fan that he named himself Ashrita (he was originally called Keith) and made it into the Guinness
Book Of Records in 1979, by doing 27,000 jumping jacks. As Ashrita is a strict vegan he used soya rather than dairy milk for the record.
WANT TO KNOW MORE?
Ashrita may make this party trick look easy (if you really have to give it a go practice with a plastic bottle!), but it all comes down to his
daily meditation regime. Ashrita is on a spiritual mission and uses his inner spirit to perform the record-breaking feats. Under the
instruction of his guru, Sri Chinmoy, he says he's been able to attain a new level of self-transcendence - meaning he can overcome the
physical pain and mental anguish of his testing record attempts. "I don't even have a flat head," says the headstrong record breaker.
"You can see from the photo - I have to tilt my head to one side to keep the bottle balanced!"
CHECK THIS OUT...

records.
