Dear Church,
As I reflect back on last Sundays potato bake, I cant help but think of it as one of the best
weve had. The fellowship hall was full. The food was delicious. And we had not onenot
two but three birthday cakes!
So many people worked to make the event possible. People baked potatoes, prepared toppings, set the tables, brought the cakes, and assisted with logistics. The lunch took place in our newly refurbished fellowship hall Im sure the new floors and freshly painted walls contributed to the good vibes that were present. Also, the air
conditioning was working fine, keeping us nice and cool while the outside temperature climbed to a record-breaking 92
degrees.
The church exists primarily for those who are outside its walls, and Bixby Knolls Christian Church is very active in serving the community. Still, its good to pause now and then and celebrate. Last Sunday we did just that.
So whether you baked potatoes, set the tables, or made contributions to the church that enabled us to renovate the fellowship hall, you helped make this happen. Thank you! Your ongoing support for Bixby Knolls Christian Church in the
form of your presence, your financial gifts, your volunteer efforts, and your prayers keep us going, doing Gods work, serving others, and spreading Gods love.
Blessings,
Pastor Danny
Follow-up to St.Paddy's Potato Bake
Well friends, thought you'd like to know I went out and celebrated on St. Patrick's Day.
I took a bus home, which may not be a big deal to you, but I've never driven a bus before! Ha
OK, no more jokes till next year, but we sure had a lot of fun AND raised $223 for camp at this year's
St. Paddy's Potato Bake, yaay! Thanks to everyone for their support, and a shout-out to our bakers and other
helpful leprechauns: Sandy, Gretchen, Bob & Shirley, Margo, Pat, Barb, Tom & Betsy, Monica, and Phil.
We 'kicked it up a notch' this year with Ken Kobel adding snare drum,'rim shots on the punch line'-BAM, perfect
timing!
And who will ever forget Tom Hillig's portrayal in the dramatic O'Reilly Story?! Or David Rugh's late-night-disc
jockey-sounding voice in, What's Your Number?...better known as the raffle segment! Folks, we're talkin' possible
Best Supporting Actors . Also, thank you Samantha & Ethan; they NEVER stopped playing guitar & ukelele, which
reminded me of the musicians on the Titanic
who played till the ship went down, but that's another
story ;) Marlene Martinez & Chris, I appreciate the help setting up, decorating, and staying after. I love our Youth,
and I loved it when they helped (under the direction of Gretchen) clean, and put away tables & chairs! I hope I didn't forget anyone! You can see it takes a church family to raise a potato and a Potato Bake! Next year, watch out
for Irish dancing and a Green Cow :)

The South Coast Interfaith Councils softball season will be starting in May. Some
people have expressed interest in BKCC having a team this year. Players must be 13
years of age before January 1, 2016. The team is coed, needs at least 12 total players, and must have at least 3 female players in the field each inning. Costs will depend on the number of players and league fee but usually $30 to $40 each.
We will need to participate in a league meeting Monday April 13th if we want to participate. Please email Leo
[email protected] or call (562) 429-0227 and leave a message with your name and phone
number before April 13th if you or someone you know are interested in playing. Play Ball!
