COUNSELING CORNER

Counseling will been exploring Careers with all grades in January. We use classroom
instruction as well as an internet based program called College in Colorado. All students will learn how to sign onto and use the College in Colorado web site. College in
Colorado is designed to help students and parents plan for secondary education
(Middle School and High School), post secondary education (2 year colleges, 4 year
colleges, or technical schools) including financial aide information and Career choices.
Parents are encouraged to sign onto College in Colorado to help their students thru
this important and difficult process.

From the Attendance Clerk

I would like to take an opportunity to say Thank You to the Tiger Community for being so welcoming to
me. I am honored to work with such a great group of kids, dedicated staff, and supportive families.
As a reminder, you may report absences or tardies by calling the attendance line at 303-652-8289 , or
for your convenience, you can email me at; [email protected]
We truly appreciate the time taken to report absences to the school. And, for extended pre-arranged
absences, remind your student to pick up a pre-arranged absence form from the front office.
91 DAYS OF SCHOOL LEFT!! LET'S MAKE EM COUNT!!
GO TIGERS!

A note from the Health Office:

Vision and Hearing screening: On Thursday, January 15, 2015 we will be screening all
7th graders, new to district students and a handful of other students. If your student wears
contacts or glasses, please make sure they wear them on Thursday, January 15. Also, if you
are interested in volunteering to help with the screening, please email Nicole Meadows
see below for email address. We will need volunteers from 7:45 12:30.
Regarding immunizations: Thank you for turning in updated immunization forms. If your
student received shots over break, please bring in a copy of the form, so we can update
Infinite Campus.
Cold and flu season: If your student is feeling under the weather and their temperature is
over 100.0 degrees, please keep them home. If a student has a temperature over 100.0
degrees at school, we will call to have someone come pick them up. Please keep them
home until they are fever free for 24 hours without medication.
Hydration: It is important to be drinking plenty of water throughout the winterseason. Some headaches and stomach aches can be alleviated with staying hydrated. We
encourage your student to bring a bottle of water each day.
We are currently accepting donations for the following items for the Health Office:
Water bottles
Life savers (for coughs and sore throats)
Granola bars
Saltine crackers
Antibacterial wipes
Thank you and Happy New Year!

Sixth Grade
A positive role model in 6th grade is the best way to describe Nikkoli Quesada! He is always on task and
giving his best effort on whatever he is working on. Nikkoli asks great clarifying questions and makes sure
he is understanding his assignments. In addition, Nikkoli is always one of the first to offer to help in any
situation and he helps raise the bar for students around him. Way to R.O.A.R., Nikkoli!
Mina Kujundzic may have a hard last name to pronounce but she makes everything else look easy! Mina is
always prepared for class and goes above and beyond on every assignment. She makes sure she understands
what is asked of her and than produces high quality answers. Her good eye contact lets teachers know she
is on task and her great work ethic makes her a wonderful role model for the rest of us. Keep it up, Mina!

Seventh Grade
Zach Coblentz ROARS everyday at Erie Middle School. He works hard, treats his fellow students and teachers
with respect, and holds himself to high expectations. Keep up the outstanding work Zach!
A 7th grade student of the month is Taylor Green. Taylor is kind, helpful and hardworking. She is
considerate, thoughtful and always does her best. Taylor is a great role model for others, always striving for excellence in every subject. Awesome job, Taylor!

Eighth Grade
Zoe Simms is hard working, a good time manager, and kind to everyone. She has a positive attitude toward
herself, her peers and her teachers. She is open minded and is an excellent critical thinker and problem solver.
Additionally, she knows when to focus and be respectful and when to have fun. Way to go, Zoe!
Luke Arvay epitomizes excellence at Erie Middle School. Not only is he respectful, responsible, and and determined, he also comes to school each day with a positive attitude and a smile. Luke inspires others to be their
best selves, and we're proud to have him as member of our Erie community. Way to ROAR, Luke!
