33rd Sunday of the Year

If you wish to contribute to the View from
the Pew, please contact the Parish Office.

These are anonymous comments from

parishioners.
The readings today are all about staying awake, alert
and working, mentally and physically. In the full version of
chapter 31 of the book of Proverbs the care for the servants'
well-being is also mentioned several times and that Ripe
wisdom governs her speech, but it is kindly instruction she
gives. The chapter sums up all the housewife's talents and
counts her husband lucky.
The second reading contains a warning not to sit
back and relax, but to spend the days working for God:
everyday work and striving to do good.
The Gospel points to the good we can spread by
using our talents to improve the world, directly or indirectly. It is not the number of talents we have, but the good
the world receives from them. The parable sounds like an
example of use it or lose it!

NOVEMBER
THE MONTH OF REMEMBRANCE
and the ANNUAL MASS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE
BEEN BEREAVED DURING THE LAST TWELVE
MONTHS.
Our Annual Mass with the Bereaved will take place on
Sunday 23rd November at the 10.30am Mass. During the
Mass we will remember by name all those whose funerals
have taken place here since last November. We have written
to all the families that have had a funeral here at Guardian
Angels since November last year.
We are also always conscious that members of our
parish suffer bereavement, but perhaps
their parent or family member lived away
from here so, if you would like us to
pray for a member of your family who has
died in the past 12 months at our Annual
Mass for the Bereaved, please complete the
tear off slip below and return it to the Parish Office no later than Wednesday 19th
November (so that lists can be typed up etc).
Also, throughout the Month of November we will have our customary Book of Remembrance at
the front of Church, where you can write in the names of
your loved ones who have died, and we are all able to pray
for each others loved ones.

Family Crib Relay

(A new exciting venture for the families of our Parish)
Come together as a family to re-discover the true meaning of
the first Christmas.
We did this last year, but started it a little lateonly managed a
week of Advent! We want to do it throughout the whole of advent.
Come to the Parish Centre on Saturday 29th of November at 2.00 pm
(the same time as Advent wreath making), to paint the prepared crib
figures and then cribs & figures will be blessed. All are welcome to
help paint the crib figures, Vincent Van Gogh skills are not required!!!
You don't need to be involved in the painting to be involved in the Crib
Relay, just fill in the form below
The cribs will then be sent home with one family, the idea being
that they can then take a little time that night to discuss together the
story of the first Christmas and the Nativity scene, and say a prayer
together (everything will be provided by us).
The crib is then packed away and the next day it is delivered to
the next family on the list, if they are not in it could, at a pinch, be left
on the doorstep as a gift, and then that family repeat the story-telling
and discussion about the crib, and then the process continues.
Each family keeps the crib for only one night as we share this
relay amongst the families in the Parish taking part.
This continues until the final family brings the crib back to
church for one of the Masses on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
If you would like to join in the Family Crib Relay, just fill out this slip
and either give it Fr Paul or Sharon after Mass or post it through the
Parish Office letter-box no later than Wednesday 26th November.
