All about that Bass and

Monster: Thomas Gilliland

By Kaleigh Quimby
Tracking down Thomas Gilliland is somewhat
difficult. The first place I
searched for him was at the
Monster rack at Caseys.
When I couldnt find him
there, I searched for him at
the garage. He wasnt there,
so then I checked the halls
of Tarkio High. I recognized
him with a Monster in his
hand and B.A.S.S. tattooed
on his arm. The following is
that hard to track down interview.
Thomas is the son of Tom
and Carrie Gilliland. He has
two sisters, an older sister
named Shelby and a younger sister named Saidee. His
parents both work at Kawasaki in Maryville.
Growing up, Thomas had
many memories of his dad
and his stereo in his truck.
Thomas said it was the loudest thing he had ever heard
and it was so intense you
would be shaking once you
got out of the truck. That
truck and stereo system
started Thomas obsession
with bass and electrical engineering. You can catch him
at Robert Eddys house tinkering with trucks and cars
and their stereo systems.
Throughout high school,
Thomas has participated in
many activities. An organization that he was in for
three years was band. His
most embarrassing moment
involved our band director,

Mr. Brad Mathers. Thomas

had to tell Mr. Mathers that
he burned a hole in his NEW
band pants. After Brad went
outside to cool off, he came
back in and asked Thomas
how in the world he got that
hole in his pants. Thomas
simply said, I was sliding
across the floor in them and
burned a hole.
Another activity he participated in was wrestling.
He did that for two years
in high school. Thomas has
worked at Kloseks and at
the Wash Out. The Wash
Out is where they wash
out livestock trailers. Along
with working at a job, working and playing with audio
is one of his favorite hobbies.
His two other hobbies are
playing the guitar and beating up on his best friend,
Brandon. At around seventh
hour, you may find Thomas
in the band room playing
the class a couple of songs
on the guitar.
Aside from his hobbies,
Thomas has some favorite things to watch and listen to. Thomas favorite TV
shows are all on the Discovery Channel. He likes to listen to Tech N9ne and Rittz,
both rap. You all may know
his favorite drink, Monster, but his favorite thing
to eat is anything potato.
Potato soup, potato chips,
mashed potatoes, cheesy potatoes, and French fries. As
for a favorite movie, that is

definitely Super Troopers!

Although he lives in Missouri, his favorite sports
team is Nebraska. You may
catch Thomas in his favorite
school subject, P.E., but if he
got another pick it would be
the Success Room. He said
he enjoys that room because
it is calming and he gets
his work done. Thomas said
many great things have happened to him in high school,
but one of his proudest was
last year when he passed
two math classes, just so he
wouldnt have to take math
his senior year. Good job
Thomas!
After high school, Thomas
would like to go to Milford
University for electrical engineering. This is so he can
build his own basses and his
own stereo systems.
Now that everyone knows
more about the Monster addicted, bass sounding kid in
school, here are his five irrelevant questions:

Are you all about
that bass? Why?
Yes, because its tattooed
on my arm, but I dont like
that song
What is the car of your
dreams? Why?
A Bugatti because its the
worlds fastest street legal
car
If you could name your
own energy drink, what
would it be and why?
Poison, because thats all
energy drinks are
How many energy
drinks have you consumed
in one day?
I have consumed 15: 11
Red Bulls, 3 Monsters, and
a Spike.
If you could go any-

where in the world, where

would it be and why?
I would go to Canada because its calm and I could
do whatever I wanted!

The feel of fall

By Katarina DeRosier
Crisp air, leaves changing and falling, football, hot
cocoa, flushed cheeks, hoodies, and jeans - Its that time
of the year again and personally, my favorite time!
Of course, Halloween has
passed with all the pumpkins and candy, but there is
still a lot of fall time left. As
time goes on, the temperature drops lower and lower,
you see more people out raking their yards of leaves and
kids laughing and jumping
into the piles. Harvest is
starting to wind down with
the fields close to clear. Everyone is preparing themselves for winter.
I know that there are
many people that do not like
the cold temperatures and
wish for a longer summer,
but dont forget to appreciate fall and all its beauty!
Not everything is all green
anymore, instead, you get
to see orange, red, and pink.
Many trees around Tarkio
have changed beautifully
and their leaves have fallen
and made the yards of many
houses full of colors! If you
havent observed this, you
need to. Take time to appreciate the small things about
fall because before you know
it, winter will be here, and
everything will be all one
sparkling color again; it will
then be time for a different
article.

THE TARKIO HIGH SCHOOL FCCLA - Held a sandwich fundraiser - making, selling, and delivering sandwiches to locals to raise money for the chapter. The funds will be
used to help students gain leadership skills, compete, and
to use for service projects in the community. A huge amount
of people ordered sandwiches and the chapter appreciates
all the donations! The students look forward to hosting this
fundraiser next fall. Pictured making sandwiches are Abby
