It off.
He blinks
He drowsed and was aware of silence heaped round him,
his face is emotionless as he continues to stare at the ceiling, we begin to see his
bedroom, pictures of boats, the riverside, the sea, on his walls
unshaken as the steadfast walls;
?
Aqueous like floating rays of amber light, Soaring and quivering in the wings of
sleep.
We see jack walking from a housing estate, the street is quiet.
Silence and safety;
We see him glance to the side and see a flash back of him being beaten up by a
group who have wait for him around a corner.
and his mortal shore lipped by the inward, moonless waves of death.
We now see jack is walking past a childrens park. People are enjoying
themselves. We flashback to jack being forced drink, alcohol,, he looks around for
any sign that he shouldnt take it. The gang are laughing and jeering him. Cal the
leader of the gang, kicks jack from behind and he falls onto the floor. A trickle of
blood appears from his mouth. A lad holds out a bottle of vodka and tries to force
him drink. He looks around for any sign that he shouldnt take it
Someone was holding water to his mouth.
He agrees and drinks from the bottle. The jeering and celebration increases and
jack looks around again for reassurance. Jack sees The blood from his mouth on
the bottle.
He swallowed, unresisting; moaned and dropped through crimson gloom to
darkness;
A pained look crosses his face but he glances back up to see the celebration and
pats on the back. He wipes the blood away from his mouth with his hand and
attempts to drink more.
and forgot The opiate throb and ache that was his wound.
We are now back to jack in real time who has continued on with his journey. He
looks out towards the water he is approaching. He smiles slightly.
Water-calm, sliding green above the weir.
Jack sits, and looks at a boat on the water. And hears and sees the sights spoken.
A golden leaf falls into the water and we watch as it floats away.
Water-a sky-lit alley for his boat, Bird- voiced, and bordered with reflected
flowers and shaken hues of summer; drifting down,
Jack uses a stick next to him and motions as though he is rowing. Slow
movements. We see various empty packets of tablets next to him as he sighs and
closes his eyes, continuing his movements.
He dipped contented oars, and sighed, and slept.
It is now later in the day and is slowly beginning to become darker. (unsure as yet
what can be blown - a jacket, a boat sail)
Night, with a gust of wind, was in the ward, Blowing the curtain to a glimmering
curve.
We are now in a flashback moment, jack has fallen back after taking a punch to
the face. The boys leave him laughing as they run off into the night. When we
look at his face we see an old bruise. A dizzy haze as we fade out.
Night. He was blind; he could not see the stars glinting among the wraiths of
wandering cloud; Queer blots of colour, purple, scarlet, green, Flickered and
faded in his drowning eyes.
?
Rain-he could hear it rustling through the dark;
Fragrance and passionless music woven as one;
Warm rain on drooping roses; pattering showers
That soak the woods; not the harsh rain that sweeps
Behind the thunder, but a trickling peace,
Gently and slowly washing life away.
we are now in the present. We see jacks hand move faintly as it drops to his side.
He stirred, shifting his body;
?
then the pain Leapt like a prowling beast, and gripped and tore
His groping dreams with grinding claws and fangs.
We see someone has rushed to his side and tries to wake him and reassure him.
They call out to someone but the sound is fading. Everything is moving as a
slower speed.
But someone was beside him; soon he lay Shuddering because that evil thing had
passed. And death, whod stepped toward him, paused and stared.
we see more people with torches gather around jack, strangers, talking to him
and each other trying to find a pulse as they begin compressions. We cut to-
Light many lamps and gather round his bed. Lend him your eyes, warm blood,
and will to live. Speak to him; rouse him; you may save him yet.
We see the gang, laughing and joking in the park from earlier, quick flash backs
to moments in his bullying.
Hes young; he hated War; how should he die
When cruel old campaigners win safe through?
We now look out onto the water, and see the calmness of it. Jacks stick floats out
into the picture.
But death replied: I choose him. So he went, And there was silence in the
summer night; Silence and safety; and the veils of sleep.
We see the gangs silohettes against the night sky backdrop. Laughing and joking.
Then, far away, the thudding of the guns.
