The Gorgon Stare is a persistent wide-area airborne surveillance system that provides simultaneous video feeds from multiple cameras to monitor a wide area from the air. It collects high resolution video data over time to analyze patterns of life and investigate past events. The system is designed for continuous surveillance of areas the size of cities from unmanned aerial vehicles.

Persistent Wide-Area Airborne Surveillance (WASS) System
Gorgon Stare (GS) is a one-of-a-kind Persistent Wide-Area Airborne Surveillance (WAAS) System. A Multi-Mission/Multi-Mode Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform with a unique Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) toolset providing wide-area (city-sized), continuous stare coverage. Currently fielded on an unmanned aerial system, GS feeds simultaneous reports to multiple individual independent taskings. Specifically tailored for ISR operations in forward tactical areas, GS can provide a wide-area overwatch with ten (10) focused video feeds sent directly to individual users on the ground. The sensor is packaged in a turret maximizing the overall ISR imaging capability in a networked imagery distribution system. High resolution, real-time motion video of activities of interest are collected to supply Pattern-of-Life and Post-Event Forensics. 2014 Sierra Nevada Corporation Gorgon Stare Day/Night Motion Imagery Operational Concept Simultaneously covers 3 tiers Synoptic, wide-area coverage, full field-of-regard Multiple sub-views of the full field-of-view Best-resolution tactical chip-outs Gorgon Stare has immediate output in 3 tiers Forensics/Pattern-of-life (30 day mission data archive) Area-of-interest overwatch Tactical consumers/first responders Gorgon Stare offers improved area coverage resolution, with Onboard Knowledge Generation Flexible, modular architecture approach Scalable, tailorable for platform/mission diversity Open, standards-based, no proprietary processing/viewers Ongoing, best athlete/best technology incorporation Gorgon Stare Persistent Wide-Area Airborne Surveillance (WASS) System Real-time Area & Chip-out Motion Video of Circle-of-Persistence (COP) Description o c u l u s
