SEPTEMBER 2014 NEWSLETTER:
FROM THE DESK OF THE EDITOR: S/K Adrien Piche
After a wonderful summer of rest and relaxation we are now entering into the most colourful time of the year when all the leaves will be turning into their beautiful array of arrangements and the harvest is coming to an end. The summer has produced a harvest of abundance and we are also harvesting the goodness of the Lord in our lives. As we enter into this abundance, which the Lord has given us, we are asked to renew our vigour for all the activities, which are ahead of us, which include all regular activity in the DArcy McGee Assembly. This invitation will bring the members up-to-date on the planned activities, Roster up date as of September 2014, as well as a Calendar of events for the year. The enclosed planner is subject to change if necessary and will be up dated if there are any changes. May we all find strength in one another and may we work to be our brothers keepers. Also I would like to thank all the Sir Knights who have accepted a new leadership role in the DArcy McGee Assembly.
May God Bless all of us in this new Columbian Year! ________________________________________________________________________
FAITHFUL FRIARS MESSAGE:
BROTHER KNIGHTS; The word gospel means "good news" -- good news about the life and teaching of Jesus Christ, good news that God is with us. This good news is related in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. All of them focus on the life of Christ but each gives a different picture according to the purpose and perspective of the writer. All of us who are baptized made a commitment to live the way of Christ in our own lives. As the days and years go by we reflect the life of Christ in varying degrees. How we choose to live our lives has a profound impact on the lives of others. Paul Gilbert, a little known poet has written an insightful little poem expressing the impact that our life can have on one another. It goes like this: You are writing a Gospel A chapter each day By deeds that you do By words that you say People read what you write Whether faithless or true Say! What is the Gospel According to you?
Dear Sir Knights: Thank you to all who took the time to attend our first business meeting held in September. We had approximately 20 in attendance and went over the agenda for the upcoming year. Our October function will be a supper at St Pauls Co-Cathedral and will start at 7:00 P.M. with cocktails to start at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday the 21 st . We also have a guest speaker lined up for the evening. I am planning a phoning committee for the socials as we need to know how many people to plan for with catering. If for some reason you do not receive a call and plan to attend please contact myself at 306-382-8745 and inform me if you plan to attend. We also brought up the fact that our assembly will be celebrating its 70th anniversary in the year 2015 and I asked if anyone would like to be on a committee to plan a special event for this occasion. If there is enough volunteers to organize this milestone we will plan a function. If interested let myself know. Please look over the events planned for the coming calendar year and do your very best to come out to some of these events. On March 7th of 2015, Emmett Hall Assembly is hosting an exemplification and if we want our 4th degree order to grow we must show our support by coming out and participating in the events we put on.
