Iowa Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance
Presidents Message

Dear Colleagues:

I will be frank; the 2014 IAHPERD Convention will drive
me crazy. Yes, it will be a short trip from Des Moines.
But I can honestly say I would love to attend
absolutely every keynote and workshop in the
offering. But that will be impossible.

I hope I have created as perplexing a problem for you. I
am 100% sure you will be informed, motivated and
appreciative of the efforts of Dr. Blair Dean, Mark
Fenton and Deborah Tackmann But that is just the
start. From Amy Clark, Brian Pins and Chelsee Short
to Zeb Sullivan and Zach Young; the presenters have
offered to share their knowledge and insights covering
both a full range of topics and approaches to creating
healthier individuals, schools and communities. Their
work will support your efforts to shape a healthier future
for yourself, your students and your community.

Logistically we will start at the Scheman Center, relocate
to the Forker Building and even attend a presentation in
Troxel Hall to the east of Forker. Consider it symbolic
and fitting for the range of presentations and also an
opportunity to engineer activity into our convention.

The future will also be here with students from ISU and
various other colleges and universities. Please take time
to help introduce yourself and help them create a
network that will be part of ours. You are thus as crucial
to the success of this even as our impressive list of
speakers and I thank you for your attendance.
