Team Lauckner!

By less than a half a second, Lauckner Trucking

edged out Redd Fox Real Estate in last nights
Ladies Calf Dressing that had the grandstands
roaring with laughter. But it was some serious
dough for the contestants and the calcutta
winner who happened to be Will Lauckner. On
the winning team was Mykayla Lauckner, Carley
Wesely and Autumn Gagne, next to arena judge
Del Hansen. On the Red Foxx team are Kelsie
Meland, Brett See and not pictured, August
Salyards. At right is Autumn, Carley and Mykayla,
who will now be cheering on older brother Willie
in tonights Demolition Derby to wrap up the
Northeast Montana Fair... Go, Willie, Go!

I have been following the discussion of the

cemetery issue regarding monuments in the news but
I have never heard what they intend to do about a
problem with flat stones. And yes they can be a large
problem.
I understand that for maintenance purposes on
the part of those who care for our Highland Cemetery
it may make their job easier. But as nice as it is to mow
right over the sites of these graves there is debris left
behind by the mowing----grass clippings and then dirt
blows in and the rain and snow will plaster them right
to the stone.
We have been burying family members---20+--up there for over 60 years. When we go to care for
those sites on Memorial Days we spend a lot of time
cleaning and clearing some of the flat stones involved.
There are some really sad looking grave sites in some
areas where there is no longer any family to do this for
them. Probably the saddest of these is in what they call
the Childrens Section because there are many infants
and children plus some adults buried there. Some are
older graves.
When those flat little stones are put in they have
a tendency to sink as the ground settles. Eventually
the sod begins to grow over them and will eventually
bury the stone along with the occupant of the grave.
We have cut the sod back on a few in an area where
we have family members buried. My guess is that
probably some of those oldest stones are now buried
in the ground and finding that site would be almost
impossible. And yes, people do sometimes come back
especially if they are doing family research. It is not
usually a parent that comes back but probably a brother
or sister who is now a middle aged adult.

I wonder if the Cemetery Committee has been up
there and checked on this problem, are they aware of
the problem and how do they plan to address it. If any
of you want to look then go check with Danny Miller
who does a wonderful job of maintaining our cemetery
and he will tell the particular area I am referring to.

And I know as with most public entities the bottom
line is always money. Never enough to do everything
people would like to have done. However I do think
showing respect for these sites and the character that
the monuments can bring to the Cemetery needs to be
kept in mind also.

ST MARIE HAPPENINGS

LADIES BUNKO- The game was cancelled for this month.

LADIES DOMINOS- JAZ, JoAnn Zaborowski won the 1st game and
Elusive Elinor Lindsay was the victor in the 2nd. These girls match wits
and move those little dotted widgets around the table with skill!
GENTLEMENS CLUB- It was again Lord Byron (Lindsay), the grand
winner of the games. Walter Watts served up a couple of deluxe pizzas
and Chiechi contributed the an-ja-vees (anchovies).
GARDENING- The heat finally came and all the gardens went crazy. Now
its time to harvest what youve got before they get tough and rip out those
that have gone to seed, and save the seeds. If we re-plant fast growing
veggies we should get a 2nd crop before cold hits.
SHOOTIST- Results of the All Comers shoot down at the County Rifle/
Pistol Club: St Maries shootist Jerry Ketchum took 1st place with his
Savage .308. Ketchum also took 5th place in the Vintage Military Rifle
match using his M1A- .308. Ketchum has fine rifles (with hair triggers)
and does his own reloading which gives him super accuracy.
HUNTERS- Glasgow FWP started selling Deer B surplus tags over
the counter on Aug 4th- price for local resident is $10. They are good in
various areas, but none in 670.
SICKNESS- Wild Bill Millerick took another spill. But this time he didnt
break his neck, just went to the ER with a banged up rotator cuff and
shoulder. Get well Big Daddy!
DEVELOPER/INVESTOR- Report. People are tired of my ruminating
and renagulating about these fellas. So I must only remark that the Laws
of The Land dictate and the laws and facts are not on their side. So its
all been just a Mental and Legal Exercise at best!
KELLY INTERVIEW- I spoke with Pat Kelly over the phone at great
length and followed up with an in person interview on August 4th. Over
the phone Kelly expressed strongly that St Marie Development Corp
(SMDC) shares have absolutely NO VALUE. I will research and follow
up on that at a later writing. The following are the main issues that Kelly
deemed the most important and he presented them to me verbally as well
as in writing:
Kellys opening statement: There is only one way for Valley County
and Glasgow to benefit from St Marie and that is if a developer can
control the vast majority of undeveloped units and know he will get
cooperation from those benefitting from development. I had the inventory
consolidated but the County would not protect the assets from Tax Deeds
from the Sovereign Citizens, Marv Bethea, and Mike Mitchell who have
started tearing it apart which will make it impossible to bring St Marie
back. Kellys 3 main issues are as follows:
1. Good title on all the property, A quiet title action is needed.
2. Consolidated Inventory- If there are ten times as many homes for sale
than people wanting to purchase, the prices will stay as they are, low at
$20K, $10K, $3K...no value. The same applies to rents which will go to
$200 or less when supply is bigger than demand. The developer must
control the inventory and pricing.
3. National Advertising- There is not now or will there ever be local
demand to fill the 700 plus dilapidated homes. It must have a theme
where like people join together....i.e. Military Retiree Community,
Christian Community, etc. What is the alternative? St Marie will continue
to fall into the ground. Rent will be $200 a month and low prices will
continue to drop or stay in the $20K range, who will live in a dump. St
Marie is an eye sore and more. Thats Kellys story!
