I am Marilyn Benson, I have been working in complementary health for 17yrs as a professional therapist and for the past 9yrs as a fully qualified teacher of complementary therapies.
I worked for a number of years at Westminster College and also other colleges in the south east of England. I am an approved ITEC lecturer and have taught diploma courses in anatomy & physiology, aromatherapy, holistic massage and hot stone massage.
My initial training in Su Jok began in India in 2006 with Su Jok master, Ashok Kumar Kothari. I have since attended 4 seminars with Professor Park, Jae Woo and I continue my on-going professional development in this field.
I am often asked why I no longer involve myself with any of the other therapies I have practiced and taught over the years, and the answer is this. Su Jok brings instant relief to suffering and the results last. If a client presents with a condition that is acute, very often after just one treatment they are pain free. Chronic conditions usually take longer but always, when the correct area is treated pain is instantly diminished. Su Jok is beneficial to any disease or disorder and the treatment methods are simple.
Another question I am asked is why Su Jok is widely referred to as Su Jok Acupuncture. Originally the treatment applied was mostly through needling, but this is no longer the case. Needling is one option to consider but there are many others and it should never be thought of as compulsory. Magnets, moxa, light, colour, stimulation, seed pressure, etc. can be equally as effective.
WHAT IS SU JOK?
Su = hand - Jok = foot. Korean words relating to a therapy that employs hands and feet as treatment areas for the whole body.
Professor Park, Jae Woo is a Korean scientist and philosopher. He is the originator of Su Jok Therapy. Through his scientific works he has developed a number of simple and effective systems of treatment, which have gained wide acceptance all over the world among doctors, practitioners and lay people alike. The medical profession in several countries have adopted Su Jok to run alongside orthodox medicine, and in particular the Russians have carried out extensive testing in their hospitals to prove the effectiveness of this therapy. Clinical research studies compiled by doctors and consultants can be viewed at www.sujok.ru
On our hands and feet we host correspondence systems. The systems are highly active points connected to every area of the body through correspondence globules, positioned below the surface of the skin. When these globules are stimulated energy waves are passed to the corresponding organ and to the brain.
Su Jok is far more evolved than reflexology, in that through scientific and medical study it has been proven that there is not just one correspondence map of the body on the hands and feet, there are many and each patient is treated as an individual, receiving the best method of treatment for their disease/disorder. This statement is not intended to denigrate reflexology in any way as many people have gained benefit from this therapy, more to bring awareness that Su Jok greatly enhances not only reflexology but any other therapy being administered to the body. Level I Basic teaches: The History and Development of the Correspondence Systems Concept Homo-Hetero Law and Homo-System of the Human Body Introduction to Triorigin Similarity of Hands to the Body Similarity of Feet to the Body Correspondence to the Yin and Yang Surfaces of the Body Standard system of correspondence Insect system of correspondence Mini system of correspondence Contra-indications and Contra-actions to treatment How to Identify Acute or Chronic Conditions The basic methods of treatment Intro. to Equipment and Methods of stimulation
