Introduction In the eagerness of the Ministry of Education to implement numerous transformation in our education system, the most important thing that requires great consideration is how aware our ministers are of the importance to prepare our students for 21st century. Ministry of Education and school leaders should really come up with some real plans to ensure education transformation will be achieved successfully. This means students should be taught beyond classroom skills. Being able to count and read are only basics. 21st century is a whole new world with new challenges. Educators should prepare their students how to think critically, solve problems and be curious about the things they may encounter each day.

Start from the educators and teachers themselves To be able to produce a group of high quality students, they need to be equipped with some good characteristics. They should be skilled and competent in pedagogy. They must know what they are teaching the students. They have to be able to understand students psychology and are skillful in counseling. Another useful skill is, teachers and educators should be able to utilize latest and sophisticated technologies in their teachings. Be more creative and innovative. Teachers
with these characteristics , no doubt, will be capable of performing the duties and responsibilities that have been entrusted to them

Young learners, students


Next, students are a product produced by education. To ensure the quality of our education, this valuable product should be capable in terms of knowledge and skills in line with the development of information and technology today. Thus, schools play a major role in imparting everything that is needed in order to prepare their students for the 21st century. No one may know exactly what lies ahead of these children in the future but we have the advantage of knowing what skills they need once they get there. Schools

and educators need to equip each one of them with critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as adaptability. They should be opened to any changes in the future as our world keeps changing from time to time. Despite advances in technology, effective oral and written communication are an equally important skill as well. Students need to be trained on how to speak confidently and clearly.

An ethical society with good moral values No matter how sophisticated and developed a country is, good ethics and moral values are still at utmost importance. This can be nurtured either formally or informally. Again, this responsibility falls on all teachers and educators lap. Schools need to play a major role to assure that this is achievable through teaching and learning in the classroom. If these values can be fully implemented through education, then in the next few years, our country will be ruled by a whole new generation

Conclusion Things are changing around us dramatically fast. 21st century is a whole new era. It is flexible, creative, challenging and complex. Therefore, schools need to take their approach on how to prepare students for 21st century to a new level. Be more creative. Be more innovative.
