Your class went on a trip to Pangkor Island. Write an article about the trip for your school magazine. Use the following steps to guide you. You may also refer to the itinerary on page 74. Happy days are here again! Its officially summer holiday! This year, as a surprise, our class teacher, Pn Norita, proudly announced that we would be going to the famous coastal attraction, Pangkor Island. Pangkor Island is an island off the coast of Perak in north-west peninsular Malaysia. On the first day, which is Friday 31 May, the students of Form 2 Teratai gathered at the front of the school before leaving for Lumut. As the bus transits from the southern belt towards the west, the greyish landscape transforms into a lavish scenery of green paddy fields. During the 4 hours bus ride, which in my opinion took forever, someone suggested we watch a horror film on the buss television, Insidious to be exact. From then on, the bus became an orchestra of screaming teenagers and a sighing teacher. At 12.30pm, we finally arrived in Lumut and quickly found a place to take a leak as the boys would say. Later, we had a delicious and mouthwatering lunch at a locals favourite eating joint, the Capri restaurant. Since we had an extra hour to kill, we decided to go on a tour of interesting places in Lumut. One of them includes the Royal Malaysian Navy Base. We also had the chance to see adorable tortoises at the Lumut Tortoise Farm. When the clock struck 2.00pm, we hopped on a ferry at the jetty and left for Pangkor Island where a day of fun and relaxation awaits us. Upon arriving in Pangkor Island, we boarded a bus that took us straight to the Putri Bayu Beach Resort in Pasir Bogak. There, we check into our respective chalets and got settled in. I had to share my chalet with Aliessa, Natelie and Anne but I didnt mind as they were my close friends. Next, we headed for the lobby where we had a Time Management talk with Mr. Lam, one of the hotels managers. Later at 5.30pm, we got our game on as we took on the boys in a friendly game of volleyball and telematch, if you could call kicking their butts a term of friendliness. When the sun had set and the sky is the color of twilight, we all huddled around a campfire and had a barbeque plus singalong session with Khairul and Ranjit in charge. On day two, we started the day with some breakfast at the Dayang Caf. We woke up at 7.00am and had the opportunity see the horn-bills that live around the resort. Our next stop was the fishing village. Visiting this village offered us a rare chance to know the fishing lifestyle and learn the local culture while enjoying the beaches and resort amenities. Later, we indulge ourselves in an amazing seafood lunch near the village before having some free time to goof around and hang out. At 2.30pm, we got ourselves all geared up as we marched into the dense vegetation of the jungle. Once were done, all sweaty and hungry, we headed back to the resort and had our buffet dinner, which we gobbled up like pigs. Later at night, we had a team building talk with Encik Azam that lasted for 2 hours before going back to our rooms for a goodnight sleep.
In the morning of our last day, we ate our breakfast at Dayang Caf again. Before leaving, we stopped at Kota Belanda. We were told that it was built by the Dutch 300 years ago in 1743. At noon, we spent our free time walking on the beach and emptying our wallets at the resorts souvenir shop. Next, we checked out of the resort after having our lunch. It was sad to say goodbye to such a wonderful place but we all admit we had fun. We left for the jetty at 2.00pm and arrived in Lumut 30 minutes later. After that, we hopped on the schools bus and headed home. We arrived back at school at 8.30pm where our parents waited patiently to take us back home All in all, I had a great time during the trip and though I would like it to be more eventful, I am grateful for this magnificent experience and hope to visit it again someday. This holiday to the coastal state of Perak shall be the most memorable holiday of my life. 724 words.
