OLIVER TWIST Yr5 drama club children have been practising for months in preparation for their performance of Oliver Twist. They gave us a snippet of a few songs at the Christmas Show, but next week is the full performance in front of the whole school. We would like to extend our invitation to all our parents and carers to come see the show. The performance will take place on Tues 1.45 at US and Thurs 1.45 at NCS. HALF-TERM We break up for the half-term holidays on 21st February 2014. School will re-open on Monday 3rd March. FOOD BANK Aidie and our WOW club children have been doing good deeds this week. Theyve been helping out at Bradford Food Bank by donating food, helping to stack shelves and packing boxes to give to people in need. The children had a great day learning about the wonderful work that the Food Bank charity does. They are now asking for donations of tinned tomatoes, long-life milk and small packs of sugar. The charity and children would both really appreciate any donations you can give. SNOW Watch out for snow over the coming month! February is going to be extremely cold, which means children need to be wrapped up warm at school with sensible footwear and a winter coat. Please make sure the office has your up-to-date mobile number because we will inform you via text message if we are forced to close school due to bad weather. We will also post on the blog if we are going to close school. PARENTS EVENING We will be having a parents evening on Wed 5th March 2014 at NCS and Thurs 6th March 2014. This is the second parents evening of this year, which we think gives families a chance to catch up on how their children are doing half way through the year. We have never run two parents evenings before, so we would be delighted to have your support and to see you there on the night. Please look out for the letter and reply slip in the coming weeks.
CHILD LINE ASSEMBLY This week, children from across school came together to watch a special Child Line assembly. The Child Line organisation specialise in advice for children in difficult circumstances and can help children who are in need. The assembly helped the children to understand what to do if they are feeling upset and how to deal with it. SAFETY INTERNET DAY Tuesday is Safer Internet Day in school! This means we will be having a special internet safety assembly. We try to ensure that all children know what to do if they see something on the internet which they feel uncomfortable about. Our blog has a dedicated e-safety page http:// info.bowlingparkprimary.net/e -safety/ and each page has a report an e-safety concern button. These buttons are linked to a special e-safety email which is picked up by Mr Langley and Mrs Thompson, so that they can make sure children are safe. PARENT GOVERNOR VACANCY The deadline for applications for the parent governor position is Friday 14th February. Have a great weekend, Stuart Herrington, Principal.
