Mandatory OHS training can be defined as compulsory training which is to be delivered to all staff, as mandated by:

Professional development activities are : Role specific learning. Professional, personal and team development. Management and leadership development. Industrially driven learning and development. Other training and skill development. Training requirements are to be identified through industrial agreement, the performance appraisal and development (PAD) process (refer Performance Appraisal and Development HR Policy G9), or other methods. The identification of developmental training needs and PAD processes are to commence during the on-boarding process.

ABM Course: The ABM training course is designed as a progressive pathway of units from the 30554QLD Cert III Aggressive Beh assessed training needs of the work area, the role and tasks that different staff perform. Mandatory Requisite for Professional Practice Orientation to Occupational Violence - Refer to Mandatory TAB ABM Occupational Violence Awareness This course focuses on the skills and knowledge required to identify situations for potential violence in a healthcare setting. The knowledge enables more effective response to crisis situations where violence or threats of violence is directed towards self, co-workers, patients and others. This course describes the skills and knowledge required to respond effectively to difficult or challenging behaviour of clients and others. These skills are associated with handling difficult incidents rather than managing ongoing behaviour difficulties. For eligibility to become a Patient Handling Ward/Unit Trainer, refer to Section 7 of the Think Smart Patient Handling Better Practice Guidelines 2nd edition.
This course is designed for workers who wish to become certified as a Patient Handling Ward/ Unit Trainer i.e. able to deliver training and assessment (to a level relevant to their own professional scope of practice) of other workers at the local ward/ unit level.
This course is delivered via instructor led (face to face) training, and provides the annual refresher training and reassessment for existing Patient Handling Ward/Unit Trainers.
Completion of the Patient Handling Existing Patient Ward/Unit Trainer Course. To maintain Handling Ward/Unit Patient Handling Ward/Unit Trainer Trainers. certification, the trainer is required to: conduct a minimum of 3 patient handling training/ assessment sessions per year, and Training is based on training attend annual refresher training and needs analysis. This is an instructor led (face to face) refresher training and recertification course, delivered by a Healthcare Ergonomics Consultant (or delegate). Patient Handling Lead Trainer certification.
To maintain Patient Handling Lead Trainer certification, the trainer is required to: Re-certification is based on Conduct a minimum of 3 training criterion referenced sessions per year (at least one of which assessment, incorporating both must be training of Patient Handling theory and practical elements. Ward/Unit Trainers); Actively participate in patient handling forums/network/in-service opportunities; Be re-assessed annually peer review of individual patient handling skills and course delivery by another Patient Handling Lead Trainer or delegate; and Attend 2nd yearly refresher training and recertification course, run by a Healthcare Ergonomics Consultant or delegate.
This orientation training is Introduction to the Prevention and delivered via either instructor led Management of Musculoskeletal (face to face) or web-based (self Disorders (MSD). directed) training. This course provides an overview of the theory components for generic patient handling training.
