Immobilizer
The "Immobilizer" is a simple theft-deterrent feature that, when enabled, can prevent a Volvo engine from unauthorized starting. Each time the vehicle is keyed off, the Driver Instrument Display (DID) displays a message for 15 seconds requesting a password to enable the Immobilizer. If the PIN code is not entered during the 15 seconds after key-off, the Immobilizer remains disabled, and the vehicle can be started normally at next key-on. If the driver wants to enable the Immobilizer, he or she enters a 3-digit code (PIN code) into the DID using the stalk switch; this code activates the anti-theft function. After the password is entered, the DID will display "Security Code Active," indicating that the Immobilizer has been enabled. When the Immobilizer is enabled, a driver will be able to start the vehicle only after entering the correct 3-digit PIN code into the DID using the stalk switch. The driver will be prompted for the PIN code until the correct 3-digit code is entered. If an incorrect code is entered, or if the engine is cranked before the correct password is entered, the engine will run for only about 5 seconds. The INFO light will illuminate and the "Check Engine" message will be displayed. The ignition key must then be cycled OFF and back ON to reset this message and enter the correct password.

Overview
In order to configure the engine immobilizer feature, four steps are required:
Perform Immobilizer Accessory Kit Programming Reprogram the Engine ECU. Reprogram the Instrument Cluster. Configure the values for 2 parameters. Vehicle Equipment Required
Engine: The Engine Immobilizer feature is available only for VERSION2 vehicles with Volvo engines. Instrument Cluster: The Engine Immobilizer feature cannot be used on vehicles with the Basic Instrument Cluster. This feature requires the vehicle to be equipped with the Medium or High-level Instrument Cluster.

4 Select the Accessory Kit option when it becomes available and enter 85108353 into the space provided. Note: A connection to the Volvo Central Systems is made to check for available conversion kits before the Accessory Kit option becomes available. Do not select any of the available conversion kits that are shown in the lower section of the window. 5 To connect to the Volvo Central Systems, enter a digipass-generated password, or static password when requested. When the operation has completed successfully, the remaining programming operations can be carried out. Note: Completion of the Accessory Kit Programming is required before reprogramming of the Engine ECU (MID 128) and Instrument Cluster (MID 140) is carried out.

Parameter Programming
After reprogramming of the Instrument Cluster has been completed, two Instrument Cluster (MID 140) parameters must be programmed in order to activate and configure the Engine Immobilizer feature. Parameters to be programmed:
1 Select Parameter Programming from the Function Group 1 section of the menu. Note: If using Group View: Select the Instruments group. Note: If using MID View: Select 140 Instrument, Center Module. 2 Locate parameter DYF (Immobilizer Menu Enable) in the parameter list, and select it by double-clicking or clicking DYF and pressing the Enter key. 3 Set the value to "1". 4 Press the Enter key. 5 Locate parameter DUR (Immobilizer Pin Code) in the parameter list, and select it by double-clicking or clicking DUR and pressing the Enter key.
