British Forces Episkopi


This information sheet is designed to give you a general picture of British Forces Episkopi
(BFE) and the immediate area. If you would like further, more detailed information on
specific subjects please contact the HIVE.

Episkopi is located on the old coast road from Limassol to Paphos 10 minutes from Episkopi village
and 5 minutes from Paramali village. It can be accessed from the Limassol to Paphos motorway from
the Erimi Kantou exit and the Paramali exit after the tunnel.

Limassol town centre is approximately 20-25 minutes drive from BFE. Turn left out of the camp and
follow the road through Episkopi and Erimi Villages and this will road will take you straight on to the
motorway to Limassol.

Paphos town centre is approximately 40 minutes drive from BFE. Turn right out of the camp and
Paphos is well signposted. You can stay on this ‘old road’ or take the motorway exit, which again is
well signposted.

Unit Facilities
The unit boasts many amenities including a gymnasium, outdoor swimming pool, various sport and
recreational clubs including football, rugby, netball, hockey, rock climbing, dry ski slope, horse riding
and a multitude of water-sports at Happy Valley.

There is also an education centre (55AEC) for personnel and dependants, hairdresser, coffee shop,
thrift shop, free internet service including Wi-Fi (HIVE, Library and CESSAC) and plenty of children’s
facilities including cubs, brownies, scouts, skate park, parent & toddler group (Jelly Tots) and youth
club to name but a few. There are the usual mess facilities and Episkopi has an all ranks bar.

Discretionary Accomodation
There is a 3 bed roomed house at Peel Park available for low cost hire (maximum two weeks) for
visiting families and move in/move outs. Allocation is on a first come, first served basis but visitors

There is also a 2 bed roomed bungalow on Kensington available again for low cost hire but for officer

Service Families Accommodation


There are two SFA areas within British Forces Episkopi, Biggin Hill and Lionheart and three SFA
areas within 5 minutes drive of the base. Allocations are the responsibility of the Housing and
Community Support Officer Maj. (Ret’d) Chapman on (00357) 2596 3948. Some families are
allocated a hiring in local villages while waiting for quarters to become available.

Single Living Accommodation


The Officer’s mess is situated opposite British Forces Episkopi on the Kensington Estate and has its
own outdoor swimming pool. For more information and for a full list of functions contact the Mess

The Warrant Officer’s and Sergeant’s Mess is located close to the gym. For more information on
accommodation and mess events contact the Mess Manager on (00357) 2596 3777/2596 2783.

There are two main accommodation blocks for junior rank personnel, one male and one female.
(CCU is responsible for its own male accommodation). To find out more contact the QM’s dep’t

Schools
There is a crèche, nursery school, primary school and secondary school all located at British Forces
Episkopi.

Transport
There is no railway service on Cyprus. TSU provides a limited bus service that operates an ‘internal’
route from Paramali South to Dodge Car Park and an ‘external’ route from Dodge car park to

Shopping
There is an ERMES store and ERMES convenience store at British Forces Episkopi as well as a
shopping area – ‘Dodge City’ where you will find two banks, tailors, dressmakers, jewellers, post
office, electrical shop, launderette, bookshop/newsagent, grocers, fish and chip shop and travel
agent etc.

Eating Out
There are a few places to eat on British Forces Episkopi - Sea Queen Restaurant, CESSAC Café,
Chinese Takeaway, Moguls Restaurant and Pine Tree Café. There are many restaurants and taverns
in the local vicinity. Please call into the HIVE for more information.
