Anti-hangover tips
If you want to avoid a hangover, health bosses have some top tips. NHS bosses in the region say people should not drink on an empty stomach. They should also make sure every other drink is a glass of water or juice. People should opt out of rounds and drink at your own pace. And if they are sensitive to hangovers, they should avoid dark-coloured drinks, as they contain natural chemicals that can make it worse. Revellers should also drink a pint of water before they go to sleep. Director of public health at NHS North of England, Paul Johnstone said: People might not realise that for men, binge drinking is classed as drinking eight units in one session, and for women its six.

Reporter Selina Maycocks debut pantomime performance in Cinderella saw hundreds of people pack the Plowright Theatre in Scunthorpe. From sleepless nights about the big show to practising for the big night, she tells us what happened when she took to the stage
leotard and some special dancing tights. With no time to rehearse with the cast, I put on my very own dress-rehearsal at home. So eager was I to get dressed, I put a whopping great big hole in my fishnet tights and had to buy a new pair. With no lino, I was forced to practise my breakdancing moves on a rug not the best, but at least it had a cushioned landing. Then, to top it off, my living room curtains, complete with pole, fell down on my head as I was drawing them to a close. Was this a sign of things to come? At the time I was fighting the tears and trying to scurry out of the tangled mess, but only now can I be thankful it happened where and when it did. An hour-and-a-half before the curtain call I got into costume, did my own hair and make up at home, and headed over to the Plowright. I was amazed to see most of the cast were only just starting to get ready they too do their own make up, hair and also costume repairs, and how they look stunning within minutes is just magical. Luckily Fairy Godmother came to my rescue with two safety pins which helped secure the chunky cuffs on my jacket an adjustment needed to help me dance. I stood backstage anxiously waiting through the first half, but chatting to the dancers I started to feel more relaxed. I was surprised to see them looking so chilled, playing games consoles and watching films to kill the time between their next part. After the interval it was show-time my bright pink principal boy costume, complete with a sideways cap. After a formal announcement, I made a grand entrance, body popping down the steps to centre stage during the ball scene. While the other dancers continued with their routines in a semi-circle around me, I free-styled a few breakdancing moves. Within no time, the music finished and I took up extra roles of carrying the slipper, pulling off Annie Fannys giant sock, and chasing after the character Dandini. And it finished with the grand finale of the routine I had learnt the moves to at my previous live rehearsal. I could see my mum up dancing and my friends in the audience. It spurred me on, knowing they were there supporting me.
