Digital Converter “Box Swap”

Seattle area residents to exchange DTV coupons for a no-cost box
Seattle—One week from the day the nation will turn off analog TV for the last time, Seattle residents will get
a chance to swap their government-issued coupons for a shiny new DTV converter box – and get hands-on
instruction in setting it up and tuning in digital channels.

On Friday, June 5, from 1pm to 7pm, Seattle DTV Assistance Centers Reclaim the Media, Youngstown
Cultural Arts Center, the Leadership Academy and several local organizations are hosting a "DTV Box
Swap" at Seattle Housing Authority's New Holly Community Center in Rainier Valley. Representatives of
Dish Network will be on hand to exchange DTV converter boxes for coupons; the boxes are free with a valid
$40 coupon distributed by the federal government. In addition to the box swap, volunteers will be on hand to
demonstrate converter box and antenna setup, and to answer questions about the DTV transition.

"The road to the digital TV transition has been bumpiest for low-income folks, seniors, immigrants and

challenge for many people. Free TV ought to be just that – free. That's why we're glad to partner with Dish
Network to offer this opportunity for a cashless box swap."
