    Perth's World Record Kilt Run

    The most Scottish run of the year!


    The Perth World Record Kilt Run, taking place on Saturday, June 22nd, 2013, is in recognition and celebration of the 800th anniversary of the founding of Perth, Scotland. The run takes place through the fully closed streets of historic downtown Perth, Ontario, and along the banks of the Tay River. The Perth Kilt Run Committee is demonstrating its commitment to the community by instituting Cheering Stations for the Perth Kilt Run. Drummond Central School has again been invited to be one of these Cheering Stations! The recognition comes with cash prizes for the best cheering station, to invest in a community (or school) project. The first place prize is $1,000 and last year, we WON! The community bulletin board beside our front entrance was purchased with our prize money. Having had tremendous fun at the first two events, we are challenging all DCS friends, family and neighbours to get involved again this year! Volunteers will need to get to the cheering station before 5:00 p.m., get organized with music, noisemakers and costumes, and stay in place until the last runner has passed. This year our Cheering Station will be located at Last Duel Park. Please note that street closures go into effect at 5:45 p.m. A panel of judges will pass by all the registered cheering stations and then determine who has the best one. Here are the six look-fors that judges will want to see: Efficiency of water handed out; Interaction with runners (using their names); Scottish feeling; Music, entertainment value; Enthusiasm and creativity (visuals and/or costumes); Surprise factor (unique to each station). Please demonstrate the fabulous school spirit for which Drummond Central is renowned by coming out on June 22nd to help us form the best Cheering Station ever. If you plan to participate, we ask that you fill out the information below, along with a Volunteer Waiver (on the reverse) and return to the school by Friday, June 14th, 2013.     VOLUNTEER WAIVER, RELEASE & INDEMNITY FORM

    I understand and agree that my volunteer participation in Perths World Record Kilt Run event that occurs on June 22nd, 2013, organized, operated, conducted and/or sanctioned by Perth Running Goats Club is conditional upon my execution of this document. I agree: 1) That all times during the PERTHS WORLD RECORD KILT RUN event, my safety remains my sole responsibility, including my physical and emotional ability to participate in this event and any related activities leading up to the PERTHS WORLD RECORD KILT RUN event, and 2) That I will discontinue from participating in this event if requested to do so by any representative of Perth Running Goats Club, of the PERTHS WORLD RECORD KILT RUN event organizers or if, at any time, at any event or program, I feel unable or unfit to safety continue for any reason, and 3) That I am aware of and voluntarily accept all potential risks associated with participating in the events and activities associated with the PERTHS WORLD RECORD KILT RUN, even if arising from the negligence, gross negligence or negligent rescue by those associated in any way with the PERTHS WORLD RECORD KILT RUN events I may be involved in, the venues at which these events and programs takes place or by those organizing, officiating, or participating in these events and programs, including their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, servants, volunteers and representatives. I myself, my heirs, administrators and assigns HEREBY RELEASE, WAIVE and FOREVER DISCHARGE Perth Running Goats Club and all its associations and sponsoring companies and all its respective agents, officials, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, servants, conductors, representatives, successors and assigns OF AND FROM ALL claims, demands, payments, actions, causes of action, damages, costs and expenses, in respect of death, injury, loss or damage to my person or property HOWEVER CAUSED arising or to arise by reason of my participation in the said event AND NOTWITHSTANDING that same may have been contributed by the negligence of any of the aforesaid. I AGREE NOT TO SUE and I further agree TO HOLD AND SAVE HARMLESS and AGREE TO INDEMNIFY all the aforesaid from and against any and all liability incurred by and or all of them arising as a result or in any way connected to my participation in said event.
