News About Transition To PDCI
Great news about our progress as we prepare to educate students who, next year, will be in Grades 7 and 8. Communication: Check out our Facebook page for updated items (https://www.facebook.com/?sk=welcome#!/PerthTransition) On each schools website you will also find a FAQ page containing some frequently asked questions and responses. An additional communication tool we use is the radio station, Lake 88. Every two weeks, I am joined by a Grade 12 student on Lake 88 at 4:30 p.m. with information updates on Mondays or Tuesdays. We are anxious to begin renovations! This year, we will: Move the main office and library to conform to accessibility standards. Begin construction in December, which will include a new front entrance and will easily be recognized as the front entrance to the school. Locate the Grade 7 and 8s in 10 classrooms, all on the second floor that will include the area that is currently the main office. Gym 3 will be totally retrofitted to have new lights, ceiling, paint, rubber floor, and wall mats under the baskets. Locate the new fitness area where the current guidance offices are located. Purchase and install new lockers on the 2nd floor such that each student will be allocated a locker. Install a new ceiling and wiring for data and electrical needs to enhance service to classrooms on the 3rd floor. Install two fence gates at the back of the school to block the driveway during the school day to ensure students safety when accessing the outdoor facilities. Transition Activities During the next five weeks some of our student LINK leaders will join me at your son/daughters school. A chronological list of activities will be posted on each schools website. I will meet with each elementary school council and the staff during November. If you have questions or concerns pertaining to any aspect of the transition, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely,
John Gow
