THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

Hello Everyone! I am writing today to encourage you to stay in the Word. Many of you probably committed to getting through the Bible this year and maybe you have gotten behind. The good news is you still have seven months to complete it. You can do it! Its vitally important you continue with your thirst for more of God and His Word. I read an article a few days ago that said, 79% of American adults believe they are knowledgeable about the Bible, yet only 46% of them could name the first five books of the Bible. What can we conclude? If we are to engage the Bible into culture, we must return to the story of John 3:16. It says: For God so loved THE WORLD, He gave His ONLY SON. You see, without the story, we really have nothing to offer. With it, we have what everyone longs for. Today we begin a new sermon series entitled: I Am Second. This national campaign will help you better realize the need to place God first, no matter how successful you are. Nothing else matters in life but putting Jesus first in your life! One more thing! We still need a few volunteers for our community BLOCK PARTY for this Thursday night. If you can help, please speak with Scott or Hannah today! In His Service, Brad Seevers

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

TOURING THE AIRSTREAM PLANT: Our next Keenagers outing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26. On that date we are traveling to Jackson Center, Ohio to see how they build Airstream trailers. The plant only provides group tours at ten oclock in the morning. Therefore, it will be necessary for us to leave here at 7:30 AM on that day. The only cost for this trip will be $5 per person for gas and whatever you want to spend on your lunch. A sign-up sheet is posted. LaCOMEDIA DINNER THEATRE: We have been privileged to see the previous two productions of The Church Basement Ladies. Each of them was delightful entertainment and the accompanying dinner theater was excellent. On Thursday, October 17, we will be going to the LaComedia Dinner Theatre, in Dayton, to see a third installment of The Church Basement Ladies: A Mighty Fortress. If you are interested in making this trip, you can make your reservations early by contacting me or the church office. The earlier the better! I would like your payment 60 days in advance of the show date. (The cost, per person is $44.00. Remember this includes travel, dinner and the show.) I do have some reservations, already. We have 28 tickets on reserve. SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: On May 26, we launched a new series that I am calling Seven Lessons From Judges. This week (June 2) our theme is When a Woman Leads and the text comes from Judges 4:4-10. If you are not involved in a small group, on Sunday evenings, I encourage you to join us. Communion is available for those who desire. I remind you parents, once again that we now have activities for children each Sunday evening. WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDIES: We return to our mid-week studies this week (June 5). Our 10:00 AM and 6:30 PM classes will be examining chapter 3 of Colossians. FINAL THOUGHT: You can stay young indefinitely if you eat wisely, get plenty of sleep, work hard, have a positive outlook and lie about your age.

Last week in Childrens Church, we learned about spies! Joshua sent two spies to Jericho, when they arrived, they met a woman named Rahab. She helped keep them safe. Sometimes God puts people in our lives for certain reasons. Sometimes, we are the people that He sends to help others. Always keep your heart open to God calling you to help others and thank Him when He sends someone to help you! Joshua 1:1-11 and 2:1-24 Dont forget!!! This Thursday is the BLOCK PARTY! It is going to be a blast so invite everyone that you know! We also could really use your help! If you are interested in helping out (running a game, help with cooking, or other various things) please contact me, or simply show up early to the event and let us know you are there to help! And to all of the muscular guys out there, we could use your help carrying tables and chairs, setting up stuff and tearing stuff down, so help a girl out! Thanks!! Hannah

SCOTTS THOUGHTS
Romans 12:1-2 New International Version (NIV) A Living Sacrifice 12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Godthis is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Gods will ishis good, pleasing and perfect will. This week, we begin a new sermon series entitled I am Second. In many ways, the thought behind this series is the basis for true worship. When we recognize Jesus as having the place of priority in our lives, when we step down from the throne and let him be Lord in our lives, we declare his worth. The natural response to that is a willful surrender of our lives and goals so that we might live it all for the glory of God. When we let Jesus live his life in us, we begin to see the world through his eyes. His goals become our goals. His mission becomes our mission. His heart becomes our heart. Lord, please change us from within, make us into what you want us to be. Help us to pour ourselves out, that we might be filled with you.

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
