Overview: Now THATS Entertainment!

Mainstream consumer media is dominated by two major new forces in technology: True 3D and Simsense. Both technologies appeared on the scene shortly after the big internet crash of 2029 and revolutionized movies, television and video games. Unlike the headache-inducing low quality 3D of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, true 3D, or Trideo, is a realistic projection in 3 dimensions. Since its emergence in the entertainment world, the technology has only improved in definition and reliability to the point that many modern trideo broadcasts are almost indistinguishable from real life. Simsense, short for simulated senses, takes trideo one step further. Using the same ASIST input signals used for Virtual Reality and neural interface, Simsense puts the viewer into the role of one of the actors in the production, feeding the sights, sounds, smells and emotions of the actors to the user. Trideo and simsense productions can be multi-million nuyen blockbuster productions that star actors with finite emotional control, or they can be syndicated episodic weekly productions, or 3V shows. Simsense feeds typically go through some sort of processing to filter out violent or extremely negative emotional reactions or pain as well as to clean up any distortions or problems in the feed. No one sells raw feeds, though there would no doubt be a few diehard collectors who would buy them no matter the price. The California Free State is known for producing the highest quality and strongest levels of emotional feedback, usually referred to as CalHots. CalHot Sims are considered unsafe in most UCAS territories. They cant be sold in stores without being toned down, but they can be downloaded or imported. Beyond CalHots are Hot Sims. Hot Sims have the filtering and upper level pain and emotional receptor limits removed so that users experience pure, raw emotions and pain. Hot Sims are addictive, and repeated use has been shown to cause neural damage and cognitive degradation. Even more terrifying are Snuff Sims, underground Hot Sims where the main POV actors are wounded or even killed. Using Snuff Sims can cause cardiac arrest in users and other negative side effects. For these reasons, Hot Sims and Snuff Sims are illegal in most civilized states and territories. Going even further are BTLs, or Better Than Life chips and downloads. Using the same technology as Hot Sims, BTLs forego any pretext of a storyline or plot and simply loop constant highpowered signals to the pleasure centers of the brain. BTLs have been called the Crack of the Sixth World because BTL addiction is considered the strongest addiction out there. Classics: This Little House The heart-wrenching story of a small town in Moldova gripped by the chaos of War and occupation, This Little House was released in 2035, not even two years after the Nigthwraith Incident effectively ended the Euro Wars. The story begins with the small town of Kari, Moldova having recently been conquered by the Russians, and follows the struggle of its inhabitants as they try to go about their day-to-day lives under the oppressive gaze of occupying soldiers. Its most famous scene depicted real-life victims of the Euro Wars singing the Moldovan National Anthem while a group of

Russian soldiers beat a well-loved local man to death in the streets. This Little House can be viewed in trideo or as a poly-POV simsense broadcast. Oyabun This dramatic look at the life of a Yakuza clan-leader trying to maintain the traditions and honor of his family and people while around him the world breaks out into the chaos of the emerging Sixth World features a sympathetic look at one of the worlds most fearsome criminal syndicates, an artful cast of seasoned performers and the writing of Hollywoods finest. Set in San Francisco in the 20s, Oyabun documents the struggles of a traditional Yakuza leader during the techsplosion and goblinization, ending with the familys eventual dissolution during the second VITAS outbreak. Hailed by some as a masterpiece, critics of Oyabun argue that it variously depicts Japanese culture as harsh and unforgivingly racist while simultaneously painting the Yakuza as simple, honest and honorable people instead of the criminals they are. Oyabun can be viewed in trideo or as a singe-POV simsense broadcast. Streets of Rage A stirring drama that depicts the Night of Rage through the eyes of a young Ork child, Streets of Rage is known as one of the first portrayals of metahumans in a sympathetic light. Produced and directed by prolific Ork indie director Samuel Horns Johnson, Streets of Rage features strong characters, powerful dialogue and an emo-track that can make even the most hardened Street Samurai shed tears. Streets of Rage can be viewed in trideo or as a single-POV simsense broadcast. Dearly Beloved Featuring the brilliant writing and direction of Annette BrownSpielburg, one of Hollywoods biggest talents, coupled with the fierce acting of Sir Anthony Taylor, Dearly Beloved follows the story of an elf mage returning from the dead as a ghost and trying to reconnect with the love of his life. Things take a turn for the worse as we watch the main character grow increasingly obsessed with his old flame, who has finally moved on and begun dating again, and vow to reunite them in death. With a cutting look at toxic relationships and entitlement mentality, Dearly Beloved is a dark film that leaves the audience simultaneously sympathizing with the main character and desiring to see him destroyed and driven away. Dearly Beloved can be viewed in trideo or as a multi-POV simsense broadcast. Corp Script A young, beautiful and talented corporate girl falls for a down-on-his-luck thief and rehabilitates him, scoring him a job vending food at her local corporate arcology. While billed as a romantic comedy, Corp Script does feature some hard, cynical looks at sexism, corporate life and the difficulty of addictions and living in the shadows. The final scene, which shows Leon Sobieskis Bradley unable to fully give up his life of crime, is considered one of the most dramatic and stunning turn of events in cinematic history. Corp Script can be viewed in trideo or as a multi-POV simsense broadcast. New Blockbusters: Dragonclaw This hard-hitting, action-packed summer blockbuster stars none other than Perianwyr, the Hollywood Welsh Dragon. Set in the Ukraine where a hard-nosed former

UCAS operative has to organize a team of big-ego Shadowrunners to take out a rogue dragon-gone-mad before he detonates a series of 20th century nuclear weapons. With more plot twists, explosions and psychological assaults than you can shake a stick at, Dragonclaw proves that even in Hollywood you should never deal with a dragon. The Good Horse Sings Directed by Steven Tall-Fellow and starring Sasha Jalair and Raven Begay, this romantic action-drama tells the story of Altan, a Mongolian Horse Shaman (Jalair) who embarks on an epic journey to North America to find his long-lost father. On the way he meets reckless Zuni go-ganger Nine-Horses (Begay). The two find love as they search for Altans father and discover the shamanic traditions of their two cultures are not so different after all. Besides the stunning cinematography and the superb performances of relative newcomers Jalair and Begay, the big stir is the sex scene between the two actors near the end of the movie. Initial releases in Los Angeles and CalFree used simsense settings at CalHot levels, which sent this movie straight to the gossip pool. The Good Horse Sings can be viewed in trideo or through poly-POV simsense broadcast. Cree & Dido in Barcelona The Cree & Dido series of trid productions are the highest nuyen-generating comedy trids since Crash 2.0. The brainchild of eccentric Dutch actor, director, and screenwriter Fred Cleve, the series follows the misadventures of a pair of bumbling Interpol detectives, John Cree (played by Jacques Brun) and Dido von Aich (Fred Cleve). Cree and Dido always end up biting off more than they can chew, and their ambiguously gay odd-couple, lowbrow sexual and racial humor, physical comedy, and witty wordplay in French, German, and English draw the crowds in. The newest film has the Lakota-French Cree convincing the Austrian aristocrat Dido to come out of retirement so that they can rescue the daughter of a billionaire industrialist from a Barcelona yakuza. The oyabun of the yakuza is their old nemesis, Izo Sakizo (voiced by David Cheng Lo Tsai) who has been rebuilt as a cyborg. Given the popularity of the franchise, expect more of these to come.
