Electronic Systems Laboratory

LAB OBJECTIVE
Electronic Systems Laboratory (ES) is a laboratory within the Electrical Department of the University of Engineering & Technology Lahore, Pakistan. The objective of the ESD lab is to do research and education in the design of complex electronic systems. The ESD lab mission is to 1. develop a new knowledge base and to do industrially relevant research in innovative design on electronic as well as VLSI systems and technologies, 2. couple research to educational activities, and 3. provide state-of-the-art facilities

LAB VENUE AND STAFF

Electronic Systems lab is located on the ground floor of Electrical Engineering Department University of Engineering and Technology Lahore. This lab is maintained by three highly skilled and trained workers. These include: 1. Mr. Ghufran Khan Lodhi (Jr. Demonstrator) 2. Mr. Hamid Mahmood (Lab Attendant) 3. Mr. Sadiq Shakir (Lab Attendant)

Electronic Systems Lab has over 12 tables where students perform experiments. Each table has the following instruments for student use

Electronic Systems Lab is equipped with more than 30 high performance computing machines. All of these machines have Intel Pentium 4 processors, 1 GB RAM and more than 100 GB of hard disk. The lab computers have a number of CAD tools installed including: PROTEUS & PSPICE(Circuit simulation and PCB layout tool) SPICE ( For plotting solid state device characteristics) KEIL (used for microcontroller programming) C Language compiler and Debugger MATLAB (A tool for simulating complex mathematical functions )

20 Mega Hertz Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes

5 Mega Hertz Signal Generators

Dual Voltage (0 -30 V) Power Supplies

Electronic System Lab has also a wide range of discrete transistors, monolithic integrated circuit chips like 741 operational amplifier chips, and the entire range of resistors, capacitors

The major course for this lab is the ELECTRONIC SYSTEM DESIGN Course which covers the operation and working of differential and multistage amplifiers, operational amplifiers and their applications. This course also involves the design and analysis of analog filters, along with the study of analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters.

S R. NO 1

OBJECTIVES To become familiar with op-amp input terminals To become familiar with some simple applications of opamp To design and test some common applications of op-amps To measure and adjust the offset of an amplifier, measure its bandwidth and see how its performance is limited by its slew rate To compare the performance of the LF356 operational amplifier to that of the LM741 To observe the working of op-amp based filters, integrators and differentiators To observe the working of precision rectifiers
