Weishaupt has opened a new chapter in digital burner management. The new rating capacity of the legendary W series burners (WL30 / WL40: from 205 to 1,950 MBTU/h) uses the latest microprocessor technology for setting, control and monitoring of all burner functions. The result is a new series of burners, which offers not only improved comfort and precision, but also value for money. Furthermore, the new burners are easy to commission, service and are quieter in their operation than other burners with a comparable rating.
The latest developments in burner technology: More precision with intelligent electronics
A new chapter in the history of success This new construction principle of the WL30 and WL40 will be used for all smaller types of compact burners in the Weishaupt W range. The result of this development will be a range of burners from 55 to 1,950 MBTU/h with identical technology and maximum use of common components. Burner WL30 and WL40 version LN (LowNOx) An outstanding detail of the burners WL30 and WL40 version LN is a new LowNOx, mixing head, which ensures extremely low NOx emissions.

Compact design Looking beneath the cover of the types WL30 and WL40 reveals Weishaupts usual logical layout of components. The horizontally fitted fan design has already proven itself. The most important new components are the new combustion manager, which replaces the burner control previously used and the new stepping motor, which regulates the air damper setting in steps of only a tenth of a degree, making it more accurate than ever before.

The Computer as a friend At the heart of the new burner technology lies the Weishaupt combustion manager. Its efficient microprocessor controls and monitors all burner functions. The burner display with its simple operating panel displays all function sequences for burner commissioning. All calculated values can be displayed and, once the cover is removed, all set values for burner operation can be programmed with four keys. Unmistakable plug connection Coded plug connections ensure the correct electrical connection of all components. New stepping motor The air damper stepping motor provides separate air damper settings for burner start and burner operation.
Report and diagnostic display During burner operation the operating mode (stage 1 or 2) and operations of the stepping motor are indicated on the display. If a burner lockout occurs the display not only shows the error message, but also an error code. This allows immediate recognition and rectification of the cause of lockout. Keywords Building Management System The Weishaupt combustion manager is fitted with a serial bus connection. To enable communication with other systems an interface has been provided. A self-dialling modem can be interfaced, which can report the burner lockout and its cause to a designated telephone or fax connection (e.g. the heating specialist). Connections to other components (e.g. controller) or to the DDC installation can be made via the same interface.

The most important features and functions of the Weishaupt combustion manager Identical construction for oil and gas firing Automatic recognition for gas or oil burner operation Easy operation via a key on the display panel LCD display with the following displays Operating mode with ratings setting Information mode - Burner operating time (total, stage 2) - Number of burner starts - Measured fuel consumption - Unit number - Software version - Date of manufacture Service mode - Burner setting values for start, operation and start of stage 2 - Display of last 6 error messages Parameter mode - Air damper setting at burner shutdown - Post purge time - BUS address Error message display Operation of stepping motor Multifunctional BUS connection to PC for presentation of the operational sequence and setting of function parameters Remote monitoring and diagnosis via self-dialling modem Interfacing with other components of heating plant (i.e. controller or DDC unit)

One concept two convincing solutions A new construction concept was realized with this new W30 and W40 series of Weishaupt burners. Both gas and oil burners are of identical basic design and are fitted with the latest microprocessor technology. The result is easier installation, disposition, operation, setting and service, and spare parts supply. Saves money, saves time, saves energy Synergy effect during construction and finishing, the use of economical electronic control and regulator technology and proven Weishaupt combustion technology ensure a solution, which is convincing not only from a technical point of view, but also from an economical point of view. The new WL30 has a ratings range up to 1,130 MBTU/h, the WL40 up to 1,950 MBTU/h. In the past a Weishaupt burner of this ratings class would have cost considerably more. Due to its compact construction, the burners electrical consumption has also been reduced. Only one service engineer is needed for installation. Commissioning simply means inputting the required values via the keys on the burner display. No computer or programming knowledge is required to carry out this work.
Compact form, classic design. The burner display is a give-away of the new technology.
Installation, setting and service: Easier, quicker, more exact than ever before
Service position 2: Fan wheel, nozzle assembly and diffuser are fully accessible
Time is money It has never been so easy to install and commission a burner of this rating. One person can carry out mounting to the boiler. Commissioning simply means inputting the required values via the keys on the burner display. Thats it.
Optimum accessibility Optimum accessibility becomes apparent the moment the cover is removed. All components are laid out clearly, electrical connection is unmistakable. This state of the art technology is typical of Weishaupt products. These components are also easily accessible for servicing. The whole burner can be hinged open, including the
valve assembly and diffuser from the flame tube. Furthermore, the nozzle assembly and diffuser can be removed totally by opening the bayonet fitting. The housing cover with motor block and combustion manager can be removed and placed into a service position for servicing the fan. Every service engineer benefits from this accommodating construction.
