We welcome in the New Year with YOUR BEST ACHIEVEMENTS AND HOW YOU CAN DID IT!!!
Lets start 2013 with easy ways to make a difference! We asked you to tell us your best achievement and more importantly, HOW did you achieve it. We wanted to share the good news stories and help to up-skill the sporting community.
Below is a summary of the ideas, we par cularly like how youth were empoweredtoleadandbehindthescenesplanningproducedresults. New leadership team, designed a completely new club programme, went back to current sponsors and sold them what we are doing highlighting marketing opportunities, local shop linked with importer so the more purchased locally helps the importer. Committee developed a number of new documents, policies and a new strategic plan together with a number of templates to provide sustainable growth and support for all our club members. Gave students an opportunity to lead the team in different ways in a controlled environment. As a result the team bonded in a way the coaches never thought possible. We look after the admin so the coaches can concentrate totally on coaching. Our parents put their hands up to take on a variety of tasks. Because of that we've managed to create a family friendly environment at the club so volunteering is fun. Fundraising events every fortnight for 18 months raising $13k. Clear structure around roles. Free shirts were a nice incentive. Allowing a 15 year old to take a leadership role in coordinating the referees and volunteers for the weekend.

SPONSORSHIP TIP
Go to your current membership and find out who works for a profit making organisation. Approach them first. What have you got to offer? What can you put a price on? What can you sell? Offer them advertising in your newsletter. Set up a business directory on your website, for a small fee each year they can get their company listed which encourages members to buy services and/or products from club members.
AMI ROUND THE BAYS 2013 - SUNDAY 17TH FEBRUARYNEARLY SOLD OUT
AMI Round the Bays 2013 is rapidly approaching. With the 7km fun run/walk and the ISC Lenco Marathon (which doubles as the Athletics New Zealand National Half Marathon Championships), AMI Round the Bays caters for all fitness levels, and includes great entertainment and spot prizes to create a wonderful festival atmosphere with over 13,000 participants. With less than four weeks until event day, we have nearly sold out in record time, so its important to register as soon as possible. If you are not a runner, or think it is too late to start training, we also have volunteer roles available for event day (details here) so you can still be involved. See our website www.wellingtonroundthebays.co.nz for up to date information, or contact us on [email protected].
Vote for New Zealands favourite sporting moment at the following link, and go in the draw to win tickets plus flights and accommodation for the 2013 Westpac Halberg Awards.
We expect to see changes to Audit requirements by the end of the year. Instead of being fixed in to getting an audit, a lesser (and cheaper) review might meet your requirements. Whats important is if you are planning on editing your constitution then we suggest replacing audit with audit or review. Sport NZ has a sample constitution on this page but note it mentions only audits and auditors.
