Pilipino American Student Society Eternally Devoted Isang Pamilya. Isang Mahal
Dear PASS Members, and Alumni, I hope that everyone has had a wonderful holiday season, and a great start to the New Year. PASS as a student organization has grown so much within the past six months. During the rst semester, PASS recruited many new members, was able to fulll its mission and values, and continued some old traditions such as the PASS Date Auction, going to the Filipino Americans Coming Together Conference at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champagnes main campus, and camping. For our philanthropy, PASS collected clothing to send back to the Philippines in Balikbayan boxes. Even though the organization has accomplished so much already, we have much in store for the spring semester. This edition of our newsletter will focus on upcoming events, and spotlighting a few of our newer members. We will be having an extra issue that focuses on where our alumni are today. Please take note of the dates of our upcoming events (especially the alumni)! We hope that everybody is as excited about the new year as we are, and to see all of our alumni sometime over the next few months! Isang Pamiliya, Isang Mahal. JP Davenport 2012-13 President

Fall Recap
1st GBM: Welcome to PASS
As new faces strolled into the Vincent Chin room, the aroma of fresh lumpia was clearly present. Though we expected a lot of them to be freshmen, we were surprised that almost half of the new members were returning students who were seeking to explore what the Pilipino American Student Society was all about. The new executive board kicked off the new year by introducing themselves and all the future events, including FACT, the new Paranormal Activity tradition, and Date Auction. PASS introduced our new Balikbayan Project. PASS would be using the semester to collect clothing to send to the Philippines. The night concluded with new friendships and anticipation for the fall semester!
Although it was during homecoming weekend, many of our members made it out to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne and attended FACT 2012! We attended tons of great workshops and met people from all over the Midwest! Some of our e-board members attended CWAC (conference within a conference) and learned useful tools to apply for future PASS meetings. It was a great opportunity to meet other Midwest Filipinos and network!

International Conference of the Philippines
This years eboard had the opportunity to be a part of the International Conference of the Philippines that was being hosted by MSU. The conference only occurs every four years so it was a great opportunity for the members to network and learn about issues facing Filipinos and the Philippines. The eboard mediated discussions about the future of the Philippines and its diasporas. They ended the conference by attending a banquet hosted at Spartan Stadium.

Year: Freshman Major: Pre-Law/Business Kuya/Ate: Xavier and Kim Favorite PASS Memory: Probably would have to be FACT where I got to bond with the other older people in FACT and got to meet a lot of people Favorite food: Crack Chicken PASS has been a great way for me to learn a lot about my own culture as well as giving me a great opportunity to meet Filipinos and nonFilipinos that I didn't have in high school
Year: Freshman Major: Pre-Nursing Kuya/Ate: Jerry and Kelly!!!! Favorite PASS memory: lolz you guys probably want me to say/think i'm going to say FACT but i mean that was fun too but honestly my favorite memory is just being a part of PASS and meeting and getting to know everyone! :))) Favorite food: wait does it have to be Filipino food or just food in general? Cause if it's Filipino food then it's puto. But if it's food in general then chicken parmesan!! My rst semester at State has been beyond great thanks to PASS. I've made life-long friends that have helped me get accustomed to my new surroundings. PASS has helped me learn more about my culture and has even helped me make friends outside of MSU. Shout out to my Ate Kelly and Kuya Jerry for being amazing mentors!!

Year: Sophomore Major: Supply Chain Management Kuya: Kevin Hsia Favorite PASS memory: FACT Favorite Food: Pancit noodles I've never been in a club that is as fun and accepting as PASS. There's much to do within the club, such as PASS dance crew, and absolutely great get togethers on the weekends. The fact that every single member only cares about you having fun, it makes it a very welcoming environment for everyone, especially someone as weird as me. Anyone that has had the chance to come to any PASS event will agree that there is always a positive vibe given off, which I appreciate every single time. For me, PASS is the perfect t.
