SAP Solution Manager

Pros

1. As a part of the SAP package ,relatively easy to integrate with other SAP Modules 2. No additional cost for SAP testing

SAP e-CATT
1. Pros Test the effect of changes to customizing settings.

2.

Perform load testing.

3. All eCATT Objects are Repository Objects. Therefore one can take advantage of Standard SAP Transport Tools & download/upload in XML with XSD format. 4. There can be several versions of Test Scripts, which allows different implementations with different releases.

5. The separation of Test Scripts, Test Data & System Data allows for a considerable degree of reuse.

6. Proved to be extremely useful in SAP implementation projects.

HP QC & SAP SM
1. Pros Robust Test Management for SAP R/3.

1.

Robust Test Management for SAP R/3.

2. Reusability of some of the existing test entities between Solution Manager and QC (Requirements can be imported to Quality Center and the Test Results can be posted back to Solution Manager).

HP QTP & SAP e-CATT Pros 1. Huge options for testing SAP R/3 applications using the features of both QTP & e-CATT. 2. Reusability of some of the existing test entities between QTP & e-CATT.

Cons 1. License &Support Costs: QC Users License, Add-ins License(BPT Add-in) and Support Service 2. User Training :Time & effort for training

Cons 1. User should know VB Scripting for effective automation. 2. License & Support costs. 3. Require additional add-ins to test based on application technology.

Cons 1. License & Support costs.

2. User Training :Time & effort for training

Cons 1. License & Support costs. 2. User Training :Time & effort for training

Cons 1. License & Support costs. 2. User Training :Time & effort for training

Cons

1. Not widely used for Test Management activities (Mostly used as Repository for Cat-3 Projects than as a Test Management Tool) 2. License &Support Costs : Users License, Integration with other modules and Support Service 3. User Training :Time & effort for training 4. Limited ability to customize and tailor test activities at a Project level 5. Requires additional time and effort to integrate with Non-SAP technologies like JAVA,.Net etc 6. Relatively difficult to adapt by the Non-SAP users

Cons 1. Limited only SAP R/3 applications. 2. Limited support for external applications that might play a role in an organization's extended enterprise solution. For example, CATT cannot support user interfaces outside of the SAPGUI for Windows or the JavaGUI. 3. Limited support for distributed SAP system landscapes, resulting in the need to code SAP remote function call (RFC) destinations in your scripts (or to build multiple test cases across your SAP enterprise to simulate an end-to-end business process). 4. Limited function module support; calendar functions are available, for example, but there is no function module support for tabular parameters. 5. Controls and other technology (such as tree controls and list viewers) found in more recent releases of SAP and the EnjoySAP SAPGUI are not supported, thereby severely limiting the "testability" of certain business processes. 6. Limited ability to execute testing remotely; it's possible (again, through RFC calls to SAP systems, or multiple test cases otherwise), but represents a lot of work in terms of script development and management.

Cons 1. License &Support Costs:

HP-License Cost for Enterprise Integration Add-ins from HP SAP-License Cost for Adapter and required Add-ins from SAP. Support Cost from both HP & SAP 2. Time and effort for integration and configurations(Roles, User Profile set up, add-ins, setting up parameters) in both the QC & SM 3. User Training: Cross tool training and coordination required 4. May cause Performance issues on SAP and/or HP side.

Cons 1. 2. 3. 4. License &Support Costs. Time and effort for integration and configurations. User Training: Cross tool training and coordination required May cause Performance issues on SAP and/or HP side.
