The Creature Creeps is a play thats basi-

and 50s, said Director Will Bausch, an Eng-
lish teacher at Lenape.
The type of play where a mad scientist cre-
ates a spooky creature, he said.
Reference points originate from Dracula,
The Munsters and Frankenstein.

for first time at Lenape
We gave a few of them differ-
ent assignments for their charac-
ters, Bausch said.
One watched Dracula. An-
other researched Marilyn Mon-
roe.
All of these characters are ex-
treme versions of what youd see
in movies and TV shows in that
time period, he said.
In the play, a mysterious man
housed in a castle in Transylva-
nia is rumored to be a mad scien-
tist. His daughter, who is engaged
to be married, is home from col-
lege.
A chain of events begins.
People begin disappearing
from the village.
Whats going on?
The play, which runs for about
2 hours, is being performed for
the first time at Lenape.
About 20 students, several of
whom have roles behind the
scenes, as well as an array of
teachers, are helping in produc-
tion.
Jerry Boggs, 2011s teacher of
the year, is building the sets.
Teachers Robynn Hecht, Becky
Rector and Len Nicholas, too,
have roles, from painting supervi-
sion to sounds and lights.
So, what to expect?
Its a lot of fun, said Bausch.
People are going to be laughing
constantly.

The Bloom Organization, a

South Jersey, has initiated
its annual food drive in support
of the Food Bank of South
Jersey.
Now through Dec. 15, tenants
and non-tenants alike are encour-
aged to donate non-perishable
food items, including canned veg-
etables, cereal and pasta, to name
a few.
Drop off sites will be located at
two of Blooms office buildings in
Mt. Laurel: Bloom Court at 1300
Route 73 and Plaza 73 at 1317
Route 73.
In addition, the Bloom staff
will gladly coordinate local pick-

For The Bloom Organization,
2012 marks the third consecutive
year of supporting the Food
Banks mission to provide an im-
mediate solution by distributing
food to needy people, teaching
them to eat nutritiously and help-
ing them to find sustainable ways
to improve their lives.
For the past two years, the
firm has collected more than
1,000 pounds of food to fight
hunger right here in South Jer-
sey.
Says K.C. Isdaner, chief operat-
ing officer at The Bloom Organi-
zation said, The cure to hunger

way to help those who are less for-
tunate by providing nutritious,

High turnout at the school is
expected, especially since the
play comes shortly after Hal-
loween.
A lot of kids are very interest-
ed in it, said Bausch.
The actors, who will go by
names such as Olga and
Heidi, largely put their jobs,
sports and club activities on hold
to participate, he said.
If they commit to this, besides
for their families and school, this
is their number one commit-
ment, he said. They drop a lot of
things.
Rehearsals began the second
week of September.
You gotta do it very quickly,
he said.
If the play takes place too close
to the Christmas holiday, students
become busy, and, he said, no-
body comes.
Actors include one sophomore
with the remainder consisting of
juniors and seniors.
As for the mad scientist and
castle owner, Bausch did not want
to serve up too much information
on the mystery.
Fall plays generally have a
tighter knit cast, he said, while
musicals are able to include
many more students.
Spring 2012s play was The
Wizard of Oz.
Coming in Spring 2013 will be
Legally Blonde.
People who attend the satirical
The Creature Creeps will have
an eccentric experience.
Its hilarious, Baush said.

BC News last month reported
that, since the Transportation
Security Administration was
formed 10 years ago, almost 400 em-
ployees have been fired for allegedly
stealing from passengers.
ABC also talked to a former TSA
worker who claims to have stolen
$800,000 worth of cash and merchan-
dise. He quoted TSA employees as say-
ing: I dont care. They aint paying me.
Theyre treating me wrong.
So, some, by no means all or even
close to a majority, of TSA workers
cant be trusted to keep their hands off
phones, tablets and cash.
We dont want to use too wide of a
brush to paint a picture that TSA em-
ployees are thieves and cant be trust-
ed. In the same ABC report, the TSA
said the number fired represented less
than one-half of 1 percent of those
who have been employed.
But the information leads to one
question: If even only a few TSA em-
ployees are stealing from passengers,
how difficult would it be for a terrorist
group to slip one or two of them a few
bucks to allow who knows what to get
through the security checkpoint?
The nations airport security system
should be changed. If were serious
about deterring terror in the sky, we
have to fix the system. It will cost
money, but it also will give us a much
better, and safer, flying experience.
One only needs to look at Israel to
get some ideas. Now, Israel is a much
smaller country with only a couple of
major airports, so perhaps not every
security tactic it uses can be adapted to
the United States.
But the U.S. can incorporate some
measures. There can be highly trained
personnel on hand to interview pas-
sengers, for example. Give a wrong or
puzzling answer? Get pulled out of line
for more questions.
Lets keep our shoes on, hire the
right people to do the job and finally
get serious about protecting airplanes
from terrorists.

Mt. Laurel makes massive donation
By KATHLEEN DUFFY
The Mt. Laurel Sun
Mt. Laurel has made an enormous con-
tribution to relief efforts focused around
areas along the shoreline affected by Hur-
ricane Sandy.
According to Fire Chief John Colucci, it
took 12 hours for the department to mobi-
lize once two of their own thought of the
idea to help over coffee.
Fire Captain Chris Santone and Fire-
fighter James Moyer spearheaded the orig-
inal plan to stuff a 45-foot tractor-trailer
with supplies for victims in a 24-hour peri-
od beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov.
8.
We enjoy the shore so much here in the
summertime, said Moyer.

Many shelters filled to capacity
Now, they need help, he said.
And help, the Mt. Laurel com-
munity surely did.
By Friday morning, Santone
said, three tractor trailers, five
box trucks and three Mt. Laurel
utility vehicles were filled to the
brim and the deliveries were
made.
This is what we do for a living,
not just when were at work,
Moyer said. Anything we can do
to get them back on their feet.
Already, the department has
shown solidarity with victims at
Breezy Point in New York, Moyer
said, an area known for housing
many firefighters who responded
on Sept. 11, 2001 that was severely
struck by Sandy and fire.
Four volunteer firefighters
went down to Toms River the day
after Sandy and spent 19 hours on
a boat rescuing residents, said
Santone.
They worked nonstop, he
said.
Another crew had plans to go
down to work on demolitions and
construction, he said.
The department also rallied
when Hurricane Katrina struck
the coast in 2005, filling truck-
loads over a month-long period.
The idea with Sandy support
was to just do it all at once, said
Santone.
Shore shelters have been filling
to capacity, he said, while more
inland shelters are looking to fill
their warehouses.
Once the shore shelters empty,
the supplies will be transferred,
he said.
People in Mt. Laurel have plen-
ty of connections to the shore, but
that wouldnt even really mat-
ter, said Moyer, as the depart-
ment would help no matter what.
The first truck, he said, could
hold 40,000 to 50,000 pounds of
goods.

a pumpkin at his residence and
broke a rear window. Damage
was estimated at $200.
A resident of the 200 block of
Elbo Lane reported that several
items were stolen from his resi-
dence during a party he hosted on

timated at $500.
Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 53-
year-old man of the 600 block of
Orchard Way, Mt. Laurel, on Nov.
6 for possession of drug para-
phernalia. Patrols responded to
the Knights Inn, located in the
1100 block of Route 73 at 10:51
p.m. for a disturbance. He was lo-
cated with crack cocaine and
drug paraphernalia in his posses-
sion. He was served with crimi-
nal complaints and released pend-
ing a municipal court hearing.

ed a criminal mischief to a vehi-
cle while parked in the Roberts
