Upcoming Projects of Up Red Cross Youth 2012: Oldies PARTY
Oldies PARTY Get our grannies involved! (October) A project that aims to help the grandparents of the UP community to have a clear vis.ion by providing charge free consultation and reading glasses. A total of 50 to 100 grandparents are expected to be given the gift of an ideal eye vision. This project is in partnership with a group of Opthalmologists (Kuya airon's contact) who are willing to give free consultation and advise on how to take good care of their eyes. Drop Box As part of the immediate response scheme of the UP Red Cross Youth organization, we are establishing a convenient way of getting the UP community involved in helping victims of flood, fire, and other calamities. The dropbox will be placed in Vinzons and Palma Hall, where almost all of the (total number) UP students are having classes or simply hanging out. In addition, it will also be publicised in the UP RCY website and text brigades of the organization. Children Christmas Party (December) Giving love on Christmas Day? More fun in UP! This project aims to share love and happiness to the indigent children of the UP community during the most celebrated season of the country, Christmas Day. A fun-filled program, free food and drinks, and gifts are to be given to seal the day. ISKOLAR PARA SA KAPWA ISKOLAR Project (May) In line with the celebration of the Volunteerism Month, a major outreach program, lead by the UP Red Cross Youth, aims to extend a hand to the indigent students of Metro Manila by providing school supplies. This back-to-school project will involve other UP Organizations who shares the same vision of helping our 'Kapwa iskolar ng bayan' in making their dreams possible through education.
Blood Programs One of the things that the UP Red Cross Youth is known for is its Blood Programs. We organize several blood drives a year and last year, we were able to collect a total of 275 blood bags, the largest number of blood bags the organization has ever collected in a span of one year. Back in 2009, the UP RCY was given the Gawad Dekada Award by the Philippine Childrens Medical Center for having accumulated 1,007 blood bag donations for the past 10 years.
Other than organizing blood drives, we have also organized a network of volunteer blood donors called Dugong Bayani, which responds to blood requests linking patients in need with individuals willing and able to donate blood. These Blood Donation efforts respond to the needs of ordinary people (from dormitories, student organization, academic staff, friend of a friend etc.), and promotes the humanitarian spirit through the common tie that binds all humanity: blood.

The talks will be conducted by specialists in the said topics. Disaster Preparedness and Food Nutrition Seminar is conducted to help inform and educate the community regarding food nutrition and on how to prepare for a certain disaster. The seminar targets 100-150 participants from the community.
Medical-Dental Mission This project is done yearly by UP Red Cross Youth to give a short-term medical and dental assistance to the members of the chosen beneficiary. This project offers free medical and dental consultation, as well as free medicines. This year we are planning to go to two communities and cater 200-250 people from each community.
