LIFE/400 runs on the IBM System i family of business computers (incorporating AS/400, iSeries, System i5) LIFE/400 objects are written mainly in COBOL and CL.The graphical business functionality utilises XSL, Java, Javascript, HTML and GIFs Users can access LIFE/400 via the browser-based interface or via a 5250-emulator A graphical interface for the SMART/400 functionality exists as a plug-in for IBMs WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries software (WDSC) WDSC is the System i specific toolkit that forms part of the IBM Rational Software Development Platform (RSDP) The RSDP set of software products is built on top of the open-source Eclipse platform. This has enabled the SMART/400 functionality to be extended to a modern, state-of-the-art workstation IDE that includes powerful editors for traditional source types, such as COBOL, CL and DDS as well as Java, HTML, XML, and XSL For non-graphical SMART/400 and LIFE/400 users, the system is released on OS/400 V5R3. LIFE/400 also provides quality nancial reporting via a fully integrated general ledger sub-system. An integrated XML-based printing solution produces Adobe PDF format documents, that can be generated in real-time or in batch processing, as required. Documents can also be sent by email.
