With your help, in 2012 we hope to begin construction! The first projects are to include the block fence/wall, a pavilion and the First Family House as well as the aquaponics system, chicken coup and other farm buildings. Read on...
We are expecting a few teams (and would love to host more if YOU are interested!) in 2012 and are looking forward in faith to begin construction with them! The wall/fence is estimated to cost $88,000 The Pavillion, which will sit on a hill overlooking the entire property and will initially be used for an office, storage and all community outreach meetings (bible studies, parenting classes, tutoring, English classes, meals, etc.) is estimated to cost $88,166.24 The First Family House will be home for up to 12 orphans, their adoptive parents and 2 other staff members, this house is 401.56m2 in size and is estimated to cost $173,775.08 including all fixtures and fittings. The Agricultural Portion of the land is already being developed and will include: Poultry, beans, corn, rice, fruits, vegetables and fish. This farm will not only feed all of the children and staff in The Fathers Heart Foundation and be a source of income, but will also be a demo-farm on selfsustainability to teach the surrounding impoverished communities and other childrens centers (we already have 4 other childrens centers who want us to set up aquaponics for them as well!). The chicken coup will be built to house 2, 500 free-range chicken and their own garden. The aquaponics fish tank has already been dug, but because of the very pourous earth, it will need to be built like a swimming pool with concrete. It will hold 18, 000 gallons of water and will grow at least 8, 000 Talapia fish. which will also be eaten and sold). The tank will bring nourishing water to 1 acre of plant beds in the aquaponics system as well as fertilizing 3+ acres of traditional organic farmland. The total cost for this project is estimated at $25, 000.
