b/m, 1-31-61,
Everett was observed lying face up on the sidewalk just off to the east
side of the front step. At the time a crowd of about 75 black males and
females were running about screaming that Everett had been shot. Everett had
a large amount of blaod coming cut of his mouth. A smaller amount of blood
was coming out of his sweater at about mid-sternum. Several people at the
scene stated that he had been shot in the chest.
SFD was contacted prior to the initial squad’s arrival to request
additional assistance. When the squad arrived on the scene they began to cut
Everett’s clothes off, revealing what appeared to be a bullet hole in the
upper chest. He was immediately transported to Firelands ER by SFD.
ER personnel began treating Everett. Dr. Reineck, the attending
physician, said that the bullet that struck Everett went through his sternum,
then traveled in a downward direction, piercing his lung and heart. He
continued to treat Everett without success and at 0300 hrs. pronounced him
dead.
X-rays of Everett revealed a large calibre bullet lodged beneath his
left rib cage with the bullet appearing to be a .38 or .357
411 clothes were removed from Everett and placed in bags for transport
on station. These were tagged and turned over to Detective Weber. The VCR
portable camera was obtained from the DB with video being taken by Lt.
Danklefsen of Everett in the ER. Video was also shot of the scene detailing
the location of Everett and the surrounding scene. The tape was then turned
over to the DB.

All the above listed subjects were to have seen or had knowledge what

The McKenzie brothers both advised that Kevin Randleman had shot Mark

Turner in the back of the head with a gun. The gun was described to be a .38
or .357 revolver. Randleman then turned around and shot Everett. This

Randleman had been dropped off by someone driving a tan Ford Escort. Several
witnesses thought that Randleman came with Caston.
Dean Swain and Rodger McKenzie advised that while inside of the bar
Randleman went into the bathroom with Shawn Caston. When Randieman came out
of the bathroom he was acting bold. They believed Caston gave Randleman the
gun while in the bathroom. Witnesses advised that Randleman was standing by
the street curb when he shot Everett.
After shooting Everett, Randleman ran north towards the old Feddersons
Bakery and continued running N/B around the building. McKenzie described
Randleman as wearing Black “B-K" (British Knight) high top tennis shoes,
black jeans, black, red and white jacket inscribed with Chicago Bulls on the

Bernell Scott came on station around 0400 hrs. and advised that after the
shooting occurred outside, Caston began kicking bar stools in the bar and
stated "I cant believe he actually did it.
Ronnie Charlton also came on station and advised that McDonald, Turner,
Swain, R.McKenzie and his brother were out looking for Caston, as they
believed he supplied the gun.

Randleman, ran out the rear door of apartment #14 and was ordered at gunpoint
to stop. Lt. Danklefsen then came around the building and assisted this
