    Illegal Logging

    Trees are the largest of all land plants. Trees help us from extremes of climate like
    heat, cold and wind and create an environment where animals and human can live
    comfortable. Trees have an important role in the carbon cycle. Tree leaves acts as filters
    to remove atmospheric pollutants from the air.

    But nowadays, many illegal logging cases happen in Indonesia. The illegal loggings are
    always causing many impacts on the environment. Illegal logging is increasing year by year.
    Habitat destruction and biodiversity loss, flood, resource depletion, and global warming are
    the cause.

    Habitat destruction, trees that usually used for animal to live is no more. Animal
    should work hard to survive. As we know that they should live in special conditions. So as
    soon as possible they will dead.

    In rainy season, trees are used to hold water. But when there are no more trees in
    rainy days so there are nothings to hold the water. Then the water make flood. Flood will
    make bring physical damage on buildings, cars, bridges, etc. The clean drinking water will
    scarce, diseases will attack the people and loss of the entire harvest.

    When too much trees cut, there will be no more resource. We just used the
    resource but we don’t care the growth of the trees. Soon when we need it, there will be no
    more resource. We should wait the trees growth then we can use it.

    Illegal loggings cause global warming too. Trees that reduce the pollution and heat
    have a great influence in global warming. When there are no more trees, the global
    warming getting worse. Now we should feel the effect already. Global Warming cause a
    great impact on heat. The North Pole and South Pole heated by the global warming. Then
    time by time, the ice melts and the land will be loss.

    There are several ways to tackle this problem. First, forest conservation, forest
    conservation is an action to protect the forest from illegal loggings, etc. By forest
    conservation the forest will be well take care. Then we can open for tourist to see a how to
    live in forest and for photographers to take a beautiful picture.

    Second, enforcement is also one of the effective ways but this way still can be
    broke down by money. Enforcement is a way to stop global warming by rules but seems the

    investors are using money to break this rule. So we should make a straight rule and
    consequence.

    Third, reforestation is also one of the ways to tackle this problem. In reforestation
    we are planting again the bold forest. It seems that we try to start it over from the
    beginning. It’s better to do it now and we can feel the effect as soon as possible.

    Last, the government can have access to the industry that working in loggings. By
    having access to the logging industry, government can control the illegal loggings easily.
    They will know which factory is illegal. The forest police will control the workers easier
    and not every workers can come in easily.

    My conclusion about all of this is we should do some actions. Taking care of our
    forests helps save our future and next generation. We should help our country and we also
    feel the advantage from our action. Just like Surabaya action which asks 1 people to give 1
    tree. There will be no more flood, resource depletion, etc or it will be the opposite. We are
    the one who choose it.
