System Analysis & Design

TMC1013
Semester 2, 2011
This Project Assignment is a continuous evaluation for the whole semester. The
Project Assignment can be divided into three parts: the Assignment 1, Assignment 2
and Project Final Report. This task relates to Assignment 1 only.

Assignment 1 and Guidelines


Task: Based on the IS/IT Project Topic that assigned to your
group members (See Morpheus) on last Friday (21/1/11), you
are asked to write a report containing the following criteria.
The tasks to be completed are shown below.
Before approaching your clients, the Department of
Information Systems, Faculty of Computer Science and IT,
requires you and your group members to send the Ethics
Application Form for maintaining the confidentiality and
privacy of client’s information.

Due Date of Assignment 1: 11 February 2011

Assignment 1 Report Content


The report is divided into three (3) sections:

Section 1: Information Requirement Analysis (35%)


• Interview Preparation
• Development of open-ended/closed questions and structure of
interview (eg pyramid/tunnel)
• Questionnaire (if needed)
• Document Analysis (eg system manuals, Websites, flows or
activities/ interfaces)
• Example of interview questions/questionnaire/document analysis or
etc

Section 2: Problem Definition (30%)


• Problem statement (One to two paragraphs)
• Issues See example in
Appendix A: Catherine’s
• Objectives Catering Case Study

• Requirements and constraints (if any)
• Feasibility Impact Grid (See page 12-13 from Lecture Notes)

Section 3: Project Management (25%)


• Proposed new system
• Activity Planning and Control of the new system
• SDLC phases – (See your lecture notes, and relate the phases with
your current project)
• Gantt Chart (See example in Appendix B)
• Task of each team member and Organisational Chart of the group
members
