    Qualities of a good son and daughter have changed considerably over the time of
    some decades however changes are inevitable.
    Parents love children very much but often converse may not be true. Parents do e
    xpect reciprocation which is quite natural after all â Man Is an Emotional Being with
    Love and Respect to Others.â Single most important quality of good children is that
    they learn to reciprocate amount of attention, love and respect to their parent
    s. Love Begets Loveâ and once children follow this rule the situation becomes a win-
    win. Secondly a good son or a daughter must give love and respect to parents.
    One major cultural change that has come up is about marriages. Earlier sons and
    daughters would depend on their parents to find a suitable match for them. Paren
    ts would negotiate with the parents of bride or groom and be reasonably satisfie
    d about the quality of the person, educational, financial, and cultural backgrou
    nds of the latter. Parents would then solemnize the weddings in a most customary
    and religious manner and feel honored about it. Contrary now, eligible sons and
    daughters choose their life partners and go for love marriages or court marriag
    es bypassing parents.
    Indian is a joint family culture wherein old parents would live their retired li
    ves as dependents of their sons. During this span parents would take rest, relax
    and enjoy playing with their grandchildren that is immensely pleasurable. Unfor
    tunately because of the rat race, children now find their parents as disturbance
    in their family and hence drive out old parents into â Old Homesâ that is most painful.
    In conclusion a good sons and daughters must reciprocate love and care to parent
    s. Pay maximum attention to them that they need the most in their old age.
