For people who cannot speak or hear there is a system of sign


language which allows them to understand and communicate with
others. People who cannot see use Braille, which is a system of
writing for the blind. It consists of letters represented by
combinations of raised dots on paper or other materials which
are then read by touch. It was invented in 1829 by Louis Braille,
who was blind from the age of three. Books are written in
Braille. You can also find examples in many other places, for
example on medicine packets. Numbers written in Braille are
used to help blind people in modern lifts.
