Milton Glaser notes:

Slide 1:

• Born in 1929 making him currently 81 years old

Slide 2:

• Educated in what was at the time known as “New York City’s High School of
Music and Arts”, and is now “Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and
Performing Arts” in Manhattan
• Graduated from a college also in Manhattan called the Cooper Union, which at the time was a
radical role model for higher education in the US as the founder (Peter Cooper) believed that
education of the highest quality should be available to everyone and anyone. He said it should be
“free as air and water”.
• After graduating in 1951 Milton Glaser’s lifestyle and art was probably very inspired by this
attitude of freedom and equality.
• Later with a special scholarship for international exchange called a Fulbright Scholarship, he
graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, in Northern Italy
