Second Semester Session 2015/2016 (A152) Group J Assignment 1 : Articles Review (20%) 1. Each student will be assigned to a group of FOUR (4). 2. Gather information on the topic related to HRM PRACTICES from FOUR (4) articles taken from academic journals (year 2014 and above). Prepare a report (not more than 10 pages) in which you: a. define the concept of HRM; b. summarize the findings/discussion of the articles; c. analyze, evaluate and critique the articles (Your critique may be positive, negative, or a combination of the two), and it is important to justify your argument. d. give your suggestion based on what you have learnt e. conclusion 3. The report must be typed, 1.5-spaced, must NOT exceed 10 pages including figures, appendixes and references (proper referencing is required). 4. The project is to be sent with supporting materials (4 articles) 5. The report is due no later than 27 MAC 2016. Assignment that is not turned in on time can be turned in late, but there is an immediate 1 point penalty, and an additional 1 point penalty for each additional day the assignment is late. Assignment 2: Report writing (20%) 1. Each student will be assigned to a group of FOUR (4). 2. Prepare a report on HR practices in any ONE (1) medium/ large company (more than 150 employees) in Malaysia. 3. Determine and evaluate the HR practices adopted by the company. 4. Data should be gathered via primary sources (e.g. interview with HR personnel/manager). 5. Use the material from Assignment 1 to support the discussion on ways to strengthen or improve the respective HR practices in the company. 6. Prepare a report which include, but not be limited to: 1.0 Introduction ( a very brief explanation on the companys background) 2.0 The current practices of HR functions (at least THREE (3) functions) 4.0 Discussion and suggestions (based on theoretical support and justifications) 4.0 Conclusion/recommendation 5.0 References (APA format) 7. The report must be typed, 1.5-spaced, must NOT exceed 10 pages, and proper referencing is required. 8. Use subheadings within the report when appropriate. 9. A table of content page is necessary. 10. Plan the report carefully so as to develop an organized and non-redundant report. It should be organized and assembled as a continuous report and should not appear to be several independent segments bound together. 11. The report is due no later than 15 MAY 2016. Assignment that is not turned in on time can be turned in late, but there is an immediate 1 point penalty, and an additional 1 point penalty for each additional day the assignment is late.
