Estimated Time Needed: This assignment should range from 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2
hours.
Objectives:
o -Students will chose an animal to research.
- Animals origin?
- Type of animal (mammal, reptile, etc.)?
- Type of habitat?
- Mate?
- Food preference?
o Using the information found, students will write a paragraph about their favorite
zoo animal.
- Identify the parts of speech in the paragraph and explain why.
o Students will use information about zoo animals to create a brochure.

Procedures:
1. The teacher use PowerPoint to teach the grammar lesson and a number of zoo
animals to be chosen for the project.
2. Students will also watch a video on difference zoo animals to influence their
choice.
3. Student will then decide what zoo animal they would like to research. After
choosing, students must use books and any reliable internet source to gather
specific information on the top.
4. After researching the animal, students will be required to use Microsoft Word to
type a paragraph about the information found.
a. In the paragraphs, students must underline their animal.
b. The students must also highlight and note each part of speech.
5. Using the topic chosen, each student in the group will combine their information
and use Microsoft word to create a brochure.
Outcomes:
Ability to name all parts of speech.
Ability to use the Internet as a research source
Tell characteristics and history on the animals in the group.
Materials and Resources needed:

The students will be split up amongst their academic achievements. They may also be
divided by their way of learning.
- EX: Their will be a student who is very intelligent, an average student, and a
student who catches on really slow so that they can help each other.
A teachers aid will be available to take time out and work with the student with special
needs.
