Application of Behaviors
GALs seek to understand the policies that

govern the program, and work accordingly


GALs undergo a comprehensive 6 week
training course to be ensure that they are
confident and capable advocates
GALs look critically at social theories and
apply them in context
This is done through steady observation in

visits and interviews.

Application Continued
GALs attend inter-agency meetings with

DSS and the clients school.


Meetings may include individual education

plans, permanency planning meetings, and


child and family team meetings. These
meetings allow the GAL to gain a better
scope of the childs needs and environment.
Advocate in court and recommend findings

to the judge.
