Learning Objectives

1. The Office of Counseling and Wellness Services will recognize how reconnecting with
nature is important for their health.
2. The Office of Counseling and Wellness Services will learn new techniques, and habits on
how to live a balance life.
3. Each member of the Office of Counseling and Wellness Services will learn ways to better
take care of them and enhance their self-esteem, and self-worst.
4. Each member will be able to use what will be learning to apply it with their students.
5. Each attendant will be able to recognize and transform negative habits to positive ones.

Friday, May 15, 2015
5:00p-6:00pm Hotel Check-In, Hotel Post, Austria
Attendees will have the opportunity to check into their rooms, and get accustomed with
their new place. Attendees will receive information about the hotel amenities, and a brochure
about the schedule, and workshop locations organized for this retreat.
6:15pm-7:00pm Welcome everybody and break the ice game, Lounging area (Banquet Set up)
Director and owner Suzanne Kaufmann will welcome everyone and Daniela Linnebach
Burnworth, PH.D, Associate Director for Counseling and Wellness Services will explain the

learning objectives of the Week-End. Name tags will be distributed and an icebreaker game will
be introduced to help attendees to introduce themselves. The icebreaker game will be based on
facts about the attendees but also in relation with holistic health. The goal of this activity is to
know different facts about attendees and know if they already have a healthy lifestyle or not.
7:15pm-8:30pm Dinner in the Irma gourmet restaurant (Banquet Set up)
Attendees will be introduced by Stefan Jazbec, the chef and his exceptional team. During
the dinner, Jazbec will give a small lecture about the importance of eating nutritive and fresh
products for greater vitality, and greater strength. He will also explains the importance of
mastication as well as eating slowly without forgetting to take the time to enjoy the different
flavors and smell. To aid this process, and to help releasing tension and create a welcoming
ambiance, a musician will play relaxing music in the background. The thing here to remember is
to spend quality time, and remember to enjoy and live the present moment.
To remove toxins from the body, each meal served will be composed of diverse fresh
vegetables, fruits, soups and whole grain cereals served with herbal tea, pure water, or natural
juices to facilitate the cleaning process.
8:45pm-9:30pm Group game and discussion on Wellness, conference room (Circle Set up)
Attendees will be put into three groups (Physical health, mental health, and spiritual
health) randomly, and each group will give 5 to 10 reasons of why being healthy within their
category is important. And if this area of their life is unbalanced, they will need to give 5 to 10
things that can happen or go wrong. After this little exercise, each group will share their answers
out loud and exchange of ideas and reflection will occur.
9:45pm -10:45pm Sauna, steam bath or spa in the bathhouse in the Wellness Hotel
Before finishing the day, for people who would like to spend time together, and help their
body to relax before going to bed, enjoying the benefit of a bath in hot tub would be available.
Fresh fruits, fresh juices, tea, water, and healthy organic treats will be available.
What to Bring: Swimsuit
What is provided by the Hotel: bathrobe and towel
11pm- 7:00am Bedtime in Power Sleeping Room
Attendees will be able to go into their comfortable rooms to enjoy a deep sleep on natural
mattresses supported by a specific slat frame that will give good support to the spin, and help
them to sleep.

8:00am-9:00am Breakfast in the Irma gourmet restaurant (Banquet Set up)

Attendees will reunite and share a buffet style breakfast in the Irma gourmet restaurant.
The breakfast will consist of fresh, healthy and light products with a variety of fresh smoothies,
fruits, eggs, and whole grain cereals like muesli served with a variety of teas and fresh juices
with no caffeine.
9:15am-9:30 am Breathing Techniques in the fitness room (No Tables/exercise on the floor)
Participants will watch a YoutubeVideo from Dr. Acharya Shree Yogeesh, an expert on
breathing. During this video, attendees will learn how to breathe to decrease stress and blood
pressure, and to take advantage of the benefits of such techniques during any sort of activities.
Participants will need to wear comfortable clothes.
What to wear: Comfortable clothes
What is provided by the Hotel: Water & mats
9:45am-11:45am Hiking, and climbing in the Bregenz Forest.
To help the body to be in accordance with the mind, spending time in nature is
necessary. Participants will learn what their bodies are capable of, they will learn confidence in
themselves and in one another. Their fears, and own limits will be tested, as well as their mental.
Markus Moosbrugger, the mountain guide will be with them to help them achieve those goals.
When climbing mountain, participants will have to work by team of two, and each participant
will have to be in the role of the belayer. At the end of activity, participants will write about their
learning experience in their journal.
What to wear & bring: Comfortable clothes, hiking shoes & journal
What is provided by the Hotel: The equipment needed for climbing & water
12:00pm-12:30pm Break
Attendees will have the possibility of returning to their rooms to change and refresh
before gathering for lunch.
12:30pm-1:30pm Lunch will be served in the Irma gourmet restaurant (Banquet Set up)
A light and well composed lunch by Stefan Jazbec and his team will be served with a
choice of different types of lean meat or fish served with rice, and vegetables. Vegetarian or
vegan meals will also be available. All meals will be served with green tea to help remove toxins
from the body.
1:45pm-2:15pm How to meditate and how does mediation a technique into a healing journey?
In the conference room (No Tables/exercise on the floor)
With Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, an American author and motivational speaker, attendees will
learn how to meditate and what meditation can do for the body, mind and spirit. They will
discuss how to prepare ones self for entering the meditative state, as well as what benefits will

be gained from regular practice. At the end of the session, Dr. Dyer will give each attendee his
audio CD I am wishes fulfilled meditation.
What to wear: Comfortable clothes

What is provided by the Hotel: Water & mats

2:30pm-4:30pm Two outdoor activities will be proposed between mountain biking, swimming
in natural lake, hiking or paragliding- Outside, nature activity
Before doing the sport of their choice, Daniela Linnebach Burnworth will give a 15
minutes lecture on the importance physical activity has on the brain and the body. She will for
instance explain how exercising can fight depression as much as high cholesterol. This lecture
will be held outside on the patio (Classroom set up)
Attendees will choose at least one activity they never did in the past. The purpose of it is
to learn something new outside of their comfort zone to teach them the importance of trying new
things. Each activity will be held in mountains located at more than 1,000 meters of altitude in
Bregenz Forest. During this activity, participants will be asked to practice the breathing
techniques learned.
During this activity, participants will learn to be more conscious and aware of their
surroundings. They will use four of their five senses to observe, smell, hear, and touch
everything they will encounter. Then, participants will record their own experiences in their
journal which if they want they could share with one another during the next break. The purpose
of this activity is to not only reconnect with themselves and the nature but to reconnect also with
the present moment and be aware of their surroundings.
What to wear & bring: Appropriate Clothes (See Markus for more information) & Journal
What will be provided: Water/Towel
4:30pm-5:00pm Snack time/break
Participants who will need to change before the next activity will be able to go into their
room. Plus, refreshments and healthy snacks will be served outside on the terrace where
attendees will share a small break while enjoying a splendid panoramic view of the mountains.
5:00pm-7:00pm How to change Negative thoughts or beliefs? - With The Work by Byron
Katie in the Conference Room (Banquet set up)
In the pursuit of happiness and well-being, people often concentrate on external factors. But,
often what causes us stress, or depression is not the product of our environment but the results of
our thoughts, and what we believe about ourselves and others. In this activity, participants will
learn a technique developed by Byron Katie to recognize where the physical and emotional
problems come from and how to change them. Participants will discover their own beliefs,

intentions, and thoughts that may be encouraging negative thinking, instead of developing
positive thoughts, and happiness. A Youtube video from Byron Katie will first be introduced to
understand her concepts. Worksheets from The Work will be distributed and participants will
be put into groups based on their results from the Briggs Myers personality type they had to
complete prior to the retreat. Participants will be grouped into four groups: NF, NT, SF, ST.
They will then choose a situation or a person that they considered unfair or unjust and try to
answer the questions based on The Work.
By analyzing the thoughts and by challenging the beliefs behind the situation, participants will
be able to look at the situation from other angles, and perceptions and they will decide if the
situation was really as it was or if it was the result on their own limited beliefs. After doing this
exercise within their group, each group will share their different analyses, and compare their
conclusions with each other to see if the way their thoughts are processed are also based on the
different type of personality.
What to Bring: Results of Personality Tests
7:15pm-8:30pm Dinner in the Irma gourmet restaurant (Banquet Set up)
Attendees will have a dinner served by Stefan Jazbec, the chef and his team. For the first
15 minutes, Jazbec will share some of his knowledge on how to eat better. He will give attendees
some tips for people with busy lives who do not have the time to cook from scratch. And as a
small and fun exercise, during dinner time, he will ask participants to close their eyes each time
they will introduce food in their mouths to test their smell and taste. This exercise will also be a
way to appreciate and enjoy the present moment to the fullest.
8:45pm- 10:45pm Movie You can heal your life by Louise Hay in the Hotel lounge
(Classroom Set up)
Attendees will have the possibility to finish their day by relaxing and watching a
powerful movie about how to find and maintain a balance life despite the possible change in
environment. Some techniques shown in the movie will be used the following day.
Before going to bed, green tea, chamomile tea and water will be served to facilitate the
process of sleeping.
11pm- 7:00am Bedtime in Power Sleeping Room
Attendees will be able to go into their comfortable rooms to enjoy a deep sleep on natural
mattresses supported by a specific slat frame that give good support to the spin.

The breakfast will consist of fresh, healthy and light products with a variety of fresh smoothies,
fruits, eggs, and whole grain cereals like muesli served with a variety of teas and fresh juices
with no caffeine.
9:15am-10:00am Detox power yoga with Bettina Dralle- outside of the bathhouse
Dralle, the yoga instructor will teach different yoga positions to help remove stress,
strength balance, and find peace. Some exercises will have to be performed with a partner which
will give opportunity to participants to step out of their comfort zone, and trust one another.
What to wear: Comfortable clothes
What is provided by the Hotel: Water & mats
10:15am-11:00am Positive Affirmations and Mirror Work- Fitness room (No Tables/exercise on
the floor)
During those activities, participants will practice some of the techniques they watched
from the movie You can heal your life by Louise Hay. During the first activity, participants
will have to be partnered with somebody. Each individual will have to write five positive
affirmations about themselves and five positive affirmations about their partner, and then they
will have to share with the class what were their affirmations.
When doing the positive affirmations, participants will have to use the word I.
For the second activity, participants will have to face the fitness room mirror.They will
have to say their positive affirmations and how they love themselves to their own reflection.
This exercise can be very difficult to perform especially for people with a low self-esteem. That
is totally normal and attendees should be encouraged to do it without being forced. If they can do
the exercise, they can add what their partners said about themselves as well, but if it is too hard
for certain people, instead they can write more positive affirmations in their journals. This
practice will help improve self-esteem, and confidence.
What to wear and bring: Comfortable clothes & Journal
11:15am-12:15pm Reflection of what was learned
Attendees will find their favorite spot on the site to write a reflection about what they
learn during this retreat. The purpose to leave attendees the option of choosing where to write is
to facilitate their learning experience. By not constraining their mind or body in a space they do
not really like, it will increase their learning experience.
What to wear: Journal
12:30pm-1:30pm Lunch will be served in the Irma gourmet restaurant (Banquet Set up)

A light and well composed lunch by Stefan Jazbec and his team will be served with a
choice of different types of lean meat or fish served with rice, and vegetables. Vegetarian or
vegan meal will also be available. All meals will be served with green tea to help remove toxins
from the body.
1:45pm-3:00pm Wrap-Up- Conference room (Classroom Set up)
Suzanne Kaufmann the owner of the hotel accompanied with the all team will thank
everyone for coming and Daniela Linnebach Burnworth will give a little speech about the
different learning experiences attendees had and how it will be used by the Office of Counseling
and Wellness Services to help students develop better habits in order to have less stress, better
self-esteem, and more joy in their lives.
Participants will receive each piece of material used in this retreat in order for them to
teach them to their students. New mission from the Office of Counseling and Wellness Services
will be developed according to what was learned during this retreat.
At the end of the conference, participants will take 15 minutes to write about their diverse
experiences during the week-end.
