A letter from the Editors:

Thank you for reading our first edition of the Bulldog Sports
Newsletter. With this newsletter, we hope to inform our
readers with the most up to date Benedictine University at
Springfield sports news. We hope to make people aware of
game dates, scores, statistic, and main headlines. We hope
that you enjoy this very first issue of the Bulldog Sports
Newsletter and that you will continue to support us in our
journey as sports informants.

Golf teams eager to Begin Spring Campaign
Bulldogs Drop The (Volley) Ball

The Bulldogs had yet another rough season. They held
the position of 12th, in a 13 team conference, staying just
ahead of, last place, Harris Stowe State University. With
a conference record of one win and ten losses, and an
overall record of two wins and twenty-three losses, the
team took a hard, hard fall this season. The 2014 season is
slightly less than that of last years where the Bulldogs had
a record of three wins and twenty-five losses. Each year
it seems that the Bulldogs have decreased their playing
value. Where in 2011, they had ten wins and thirty losses. Having gone through 3 different coaches in 3 years,
the current players have had a tough time adjusting to the
changes, and it shows.
Benedictine University at Springfield Men and Womens Golf team ended their fall campaign with the men
taking third place at the Bank of Springfield Bulldog
Classic at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield,
IL. The men and womens team will open up their
final season in school history in March down in Cape
Girardeau, Missouri. The womens golf team will open
up their season on their spring trip to Knoxville, Tennessee. The mens and womens golf team is led by one
senior, Ryan Leonard.
This will be an emotional time as well for the Bulldogs
as they start their final season in school history. BU

NAIA tournament play

Basketball Drops their final game against

Columbia University
The Mens Basketball season came to an end in Columbia. It
was an emotional time for the team as it was there last season in
school history. In their final game they lost to number 12 ranked
Columbia University in Missouri 82-43. It was a quarterfinal
matchup in the AMC conference tournament. At the end of the
game, a true moment of sportsmanship came out from Columbia
University. The Head Coach and Athletic Director of Columbia
brought the bulldogs to the center of the court and were recognized for all their hard work and effort the past three seasons in
the conference. The team received a standing ovation.
Head Coach Ian McKeithen and the Bulldogs program ends with
a career record of 35-58. (.376). The goal is now to get the players
with remaining eligibility into a new program and finish their
degrees.
The men and womens Cross Country and

Track team have not been doing as well as they
hoped this season. Many of the participants
finished behind the 100th mark. There were
no team scores recorded this season. The first
track meet was held on Sat. March 21, 2015 at
Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO. The
Bulldogs finished 8th out of 8 teams, starting
the season off with a rocky start.

Bulldogs Start their Spring Season
Springfield, Ill- Its been a rough start to the Bulldogs 2015 Campaign. They have dropped their last four games down in Florida. This is
the last season in Benedictine University school history. As Benedictine
University school is on spring break March 16-20th the baseball team will
travel to Arkansas. This trip is a big one for the bulldogs as they also begin
conference play on the road in Arkansas to face William Baptist College
and Lyon College. The baseball team will look to bounce back and look to
get their first win on the season. The team is led by six seniors and is hoping to make their last season a memorable one. Their first home game of
the season is Sunday March 15th at 2:00pm against non-conference Culver-Stockton College.
The Benedictine University at Springfield Lady Bulldogs Softball team had a rough start this season with a twelve game losing streak. The defeat was overcome by a 5 inning game over
St. Louis College of Pharmacy where the Bulldogs beat the
Eutectics 16-1. Unfotunately the Bulldogs could not pull out
a win during the next six games. breaking the streak in Carlinville defeating Blackburn in a double header. If you want to
support the ladies, come out to Padre Canella Field for a home
game against Culver-Stockton College on Mon. March 23,2015.
Game times are at 3 pm and 5pm.

Bulldogs End Regular Season on the Road

The Benedictine University at Springfield mens and womens soccer
team ended their final season in school history on the road. Their last
game was in Henderson Tennessee losing 3-0 to Freed-Hardeman University. As the men soccer team came to an end the womens team will
awaited their seeding in the AMC tournament an unofficial look landed
the lady Bulldogs a five seed. The mens finished with an overall record
of 5-12 as the women overall record was 10-7. At the end the season
both men aand womens soccer had seventeen Bulldogs named to Academic All-Conference team. Congratulations to all the Bulldogs for the
outstanding acheivements on and off the field.
