Started as a server at Splash Cafe Uptown SLO, then was moved up to shift leader for the new
Splash Cafe Downtown.My responsibilities included taking food orders, cashiering, serving
meals, and expediting food on the line. As a shift leader, I was responsible for overseeing
employee breaks and sending staff home when business was slower. I was also in charge of
dealing with any guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction and customer loyalty.
Server | Hostess, Blue Wave Bar & Grill; San Diego, CA Aug 2010- Dec 2014
Hired as a hostess at the age of 15, then was later trained as a food server and poolside cocktail
server. I worked all shifts as a server, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. As a server, I had
to be familiar and well versed with all menus for all meals. I was also responsible for catering
to guests dietary needs and allergies, in seeing what they could order on or off the menu.
Hostess and Server duties included taking orders, running food, expediting food, taking room
service orders, bussing, handling guest checks and seating guests.
Summer Intern, Holiday Inn Bayside; San Diego, CA 2009-2012
Worked as an intern as needed during the summer for the Sales & Catering Office. My duties
included general administrative tasks, such as filing, typing, and assembling sales packets. I
was also assigned any special projects to help support the sales team. I was involved in
assisting with an annual charity event for Big Brothers, Big Sisters at the hotel, by assisting
with assembling all supplies into backpacks for the kids and assisting as a coordinator on the
day of to help supervise activities on site.
